State Of The Arts NYC Will Host Talks Throughout 2019 On The Harlem Renaissance Celebrating Its Centennial

Curator and radio host Savona Bailey-McClain will talk with Michael Diaz-Griffith, Associate Director of the Winter Antique Show and Thomas Heneage, London-based book dealer on Saturday, January 26th at 11 am, about the sale of Le Tumulte Noir by Paul Colin. Thomas Heneage Art Books presented this rare book edition dedicated to Josephine Baker and La Revue Negre. The book sold within hours on opening day at the Winter Antique Show at the Park Avenue Armory.

2019 TILT Festival Announced For Kids, Families, And Adults

The Cultural Services of the French Embassy and the French Institute Alliance Francaise (FIAF) are pleased to announce programming for the fourth annual TILT (March 2-31), a festival for kids, families, and adults showcasing lyrical and thought-provoking multidisciplinary international projects and new commissions from musicians, theater makers, visual artists, and philosophers. Co-curated for the first time by Laurent Clavel, Cultural Attache of the French Embassy, and FIAF Artistic Director Courtney Geraghty, this year's TILT engages leading French, Francophone, and American artists. Their works-many of which emphasize the theme of acceptance-nurture both imagination and social consciousness as they speak to the next generation of engaged citizens. Queer|Art Announces Queer|Art|Film 'Winter's a Drag' Season at IFC Center

Queer|Art, the New York City-based non-profit supporting the creative and professional development of LGBTQ artists, is pleased to announce the Winter 2019 season of Queer|Art|Film at IFC Center, presented by HBO. Queer|Art|Film is a monthly screening series in which some of New York's most unique artists present and discuss the films that have most inspired them. This season Queer Art's flipping the script by inviting four celebrated drag queens to present and discuss films that have inspired their craft in post-screening kikis. Curated by Adam Baran and Brooklyn drag diva Lady Quesadilla, this season entitled 'Winter's a Drag,' serves as the sequel to the 2014 Summer of Drag season. A full itinerary follows. All screenings begin at 8pm.

Queer|Art Announces Barbara Hammer Grant

Queer|Art, the New York City-based non-profit, is pleased to announce the judges for the second annual Barbara Hammer Lesbian Experimental Filmmaking Grant: archivist and curator Carmel Curtis, and video artists Cecilia Dougherty and Ayanna U'Dongo.

Mosaic Theater Company Of DC Announces Four New Season Productions

Mosaic Theater Company of DC announces an update to our Season Four lineup. The world premiere production of Aaron Davidman's The Shooting Gallery, which was scheduled to run in repertory with the regional premiere of Native Son, has recently undergone exciting creative changes. No longer a solo performance piece, it has expanded to feature two additional actors alongside its author. Additional workshop and rehearsal time, in coordination with director Michael John Garces' busy schedule this spring, will push the production into a future Mosaic season. Mosaic will present a workshop reading of the revamped project on February 11 and 12, 2019.  

Elton John AIDS Foundation Fall Gala to Honor Patricia Hearst, Gayle King will Host and Sheryl Crow will Perform

On Monday, November 5, 2018, the Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF) will host its annual New York Fall Gala at Cipriani 42ndStreet in New York City.  At this year's gala, EJAF Founder Sir Elton John and Chairman David Furnish will honor Ford Foundation President Darren Walker, philanthropist Patricia Hearst, and long-time advocate Joe McMillan, CEO and Chairman of DDG, with EJAF's Enduring Vision Award.  Nine-time Grammy Award Winning Singer, Songwriter Sheryl Crow will be the special musical guest, and Bryan Stevenson, Founder and Executive Director of the Equal Justice Initiative (EJI) and the new National Memorial for Peace and Justice in Montgomery, Alabama, will be the featured speaker. CBS This Morning co-anchor and journalist Gayle King will host the event.

Soho Rep Announces 2018-19 Season

Soho Rep. announces its 2018-2019 season, with two world premieres that demonstrate the small but flexible space's 'indispensible' (New York Magazine) presence as 'a 70-seat house filled with big ideas' (Hilton Als, The New Yorker). Through singular and irreverent stylistic approaches, Kate Tarker's Thunderbodies,directed by Lileana Blain-Cruz (October 16-November 18, 2018), and Christopher Chen's Passage, directed by Saheem Ali (April 23-May 26, 2019),interrogate the staggering ramifications of U.S and global imperialism.

Performances Have Begun for SCHOOL GIRLS at Douglas

Performances have begun for the hit MCC Theater production of Jocelyn Bioh's "School Girls; Or, the African Mean Girls Play" directed by Rebecca Taichman. Currently in previews, the production will open September 8 at 8 p.m. and continues through September 30, 2018, at Center Theatre Group's Kirk Douglas Theatre.

Queer|Art, the New York City-based non-profit supporting the creative and professional development of LGBTQ artists, is pleased to announce the Fall 2018 season of Queer|Art|Film at IFC Center (323 Sixth Avenue at West 3rd St.), September 17-December 3. Curated by filmmakers Ira Sachs, Adam Baran, and Vanessa Haroutunian, the season brings together an eclectic mix of independent, experimental, and Hollywood cinema, presented by a multigenerational lineup of queer visual artists, poets, composers, and cinema legends. A highlight of the season is a special experimental shorts program on the evening of December 3 (organized with legendary experimental filmmaker Barbara Hammer), which coincides with the announcement of the winner of the 2018 Barbara Hammer Lesbian Experimental Filmmaking Grant. Soho Rep. Adds Second Extension to Jackie Sibblies Drury's FAIRVIEW

In response to overwhelming demand, Soho Rep. (Sarah Benson, Artistic Director; Cynthia Flowers, Executive Director) extends the world premiere of Jackie Sibblies Drury's Fairview, directed by Sarah Benson, a second time, through August 12. Beginning July 10, OBIE-winning performer and Elevator Repair Service company member April Matthis (Everyone's Fine with Virginia Woolf, Iowa at Playwrights Horizons) will replace Roslyn Ruff. Performances in this second extension, July 24 - August 12, are made possible by a generous grant from the Ford Foundation.

Soho Rep. Extends Jackie Sibblies Drury's FAIRVIEW

In response to popular demand, Soho Rep. (Sarah Benson, Artistic Director; Cynthia Flowers, Executive Director) extends the world premiere of Jackie Sibblies Drury's Fairview, directed by Sarah Benson, through July 22. In Fairview, the Frasier family (MaYaa Boateng, Charles Browning, Roslyn Ruff, and Heather Alicia Simms) is gearing up for Grandma's birthday, and Beverly needs this dinner to be perfect. But the silverware's wrong, the radio's on the fritz, her sister Jasmine is drinking, her husband Dayton isn't helping, her daughter Keisha is a typical teenager, and her brother Tyrone might not show up at all!

Charles Browning Replaces Lance Coadie Williams In World Premiere Of Jackie Sibblies Drury's FAIRVIEW At Soho Rep

Soho Rep. (Sarah Benson, Artistic Director; Cynthia Flowers, Executive Director) today announced that actor Charles Browning will take over for Lance Coadie Williams in the world premiere of Jackie Sibblies Drury's Fairview, which Soho Rep. Artistic Director Sarah Benson directs, and which the downtown Manhattan theater presents in association with Berkeley Repertory Theatre. Due to unforeseen personal circumstances, Williams is unable to continue.The production now runs at Soho Rep. June 2 - July 8, with opening now set for Sunday, June 17. 

Playwrights Horizons Announces 3rd & Final Extension for DANCE NATION

Playwrights Horizons (Tim Sanford, Artistic Director; Leslie Marcus, Managing Director) has announced a third and final extension for their acclaimed world premiere production of DANCE NATION, the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize-winning new play by Obie Award winner Clare Barron (You Got Older, I'll Never Love Again). Directed and choreographed by Obie Award winner Lee Sunday Evans (Caught, D Deb Debbie Deborah, A Beautiful Day in November…, [Porto]), the play is the fifth production of the theater company's 2017/2018 Season.
