The Kirk Douglas Theatre was originally an historic 1940s Streamlined Moderne-style movie house called the Culver Theater, and it is believed that Kirk Douglas' movie "Spartacus" played there in the early 1960s. In 2003 it was transformed into an intimate 317-seat live theatre venue and named for the theatre's initial major donor: Kirk Douglas. On Tuesday, October 14, 2014, CTG's Kirk Douglas Theatre celebrated its 10th birthday with Anne and Kirk Douglas in attendance.

Alley Theatre Artistic Director Gregory Boyd announces the cast and creative team for Pulitzer Prize winner David Lindsay-Abaire's Good People. Nominated for a Tony Award for Best Play, the cast of Good People includes Alley Theatre Resident Actors Elizabeth Bunch as Margaret, Chris Hutchison as Mike and Melissa Pritchett as Jean. Rounding out the cast are Dylan Godwin, returning to the Alley as Stevie after appearing in the world premiere of Ether Dome; Jennifer Harmon as Dottie, having previously appeared in August: Osage County; and Krystel Lucas making her Alley debut as Kate. Eleven plays penned by Alan Ayckbourn have been produced by the Alley, including the American premiere of Henceforward, directed by Ayckbourn, in 1987 and House & Garden in 2002. Alan Ayckbourn has been inducted into the American Theatre's Hall of Fame, received the 2010 Critics' Circle Award for Services to the Arts, became the first British playwright to receive both Olivier and Tony Special Lifetime Achievement Awards and was knighted in 1997 for services to the theatre.
