American Composers Orchestra (ACO) continues its 2019-2020 concert season with The Natural Order on Thursday, April 2, 2020 at 7:30pm at Carnegie Hall's Zankel Hall. The concert features the world premieres of two new works commissioned by ACO that explore the complicated relationship between humankind and the natural world a?" Mark Adamo's Last Year: Concerto for Cello and String Orchestra and Nina C. Young's Out of whose womb came the ice. John Luther Adams' Become River, previously announced, will be replaced on the program with Silvestre Revueltas' Colorines.

Cory Becker's debut album, One, came to life in a one-room studio in the dirt floored basement of his Echo Park rental, which he built from ground up. The album embraces the authenticity and experimentation of analog recording - engineering and producing the album himself, he experimented with a variety of techniques and performed nearly every aspect of the album himself, aside from select musical guests he invited to play on select tracks. Despite being Becker's first try at recording and producing everything on his own, he was able to create a unique sonic footprint that encompasses modern indie rock and folk, and the values and traditions of the canon of American roots music. One is out tomorrow, February 21st.

The public exhibition generates a plurality of editorial voices that approach reportage through a distinctly Black lens. Rejuvenating what news can be, BLKNWS combines appropriated news and social media with originally produced, anchored segments to create a continuously updated broadcast that is as much a news service as it is a portal to an elevated state of awareness. BroadwayWorld is saddened to report the passing of “Good Times” actress Ja'Net DuBois. The New York Times states she passed away in her sleep on Monday at her home in Glendale, California.

To mark its golden anniversary year, the Audelco Award-winning Black Spectrum Theatre Company (BSTC) today announced details for its 50th anniversary season comprised of a series of special programs highlighting African-American achievements in film, theater, literature and music. California Symphony and Music Director Donato Cabrera announced today that Viet Cuong has been selected as the orchestra's new Young American Composer-in-Residence, for the three-year period from August 1, 2020 through July 31, 2023. Launched in 1991, the intensely competitive Young American Composer-In-Residence program has been hailed as a?oemodel for residency programs across the country,a?? (Mercury News) offering outstanding, emerging American composers a unique opportunity to write orchestral music while working with a professional orchestra and conductor, and to engage with the local Bay Area community over a three-year period.

The Walnut Street Theatre continues its 2019-20 Independence Studio on 3 season with the Philadelphia premiere of the quirky comedy, POPCORN FALLS. Written by James Hindman, directed by Ellie Mooney, and starring Luke Bradt and Dan Olmstead, the production begins previews on February 25, opens March 5, and continues through March 29.

3-D Theatricals continues its 2019-2020 season with Kinky Boots, winner of six 2013 Tony Awards including Best Musical. The production, which will be directed by Tony Award nominee John Tartaglia (Broadway's Avenue Q and Shrek The Musical) and choreographed by Linda Love Simmons (3-D Theatricals' Once The Musical) with musical direction and conducting by Benet Braun (La Mirada Theatre's Grumpy Old Men: The Musical). Kinky Boots will play February 14-March 1 at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts (18000 Park Plaza Drive, Cerritos, CA). Opening night is Saturday, February 15.
