Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh has shared that the new Trainspotting musical will be even darker than any previous iteration of the story.

Adapted by Harry Gibson and directed by King's Head Theatre Artistic Director Adam Spreadbury-Maher, in collaboration with Greg Esplin and Ben Anderson, Trainspotting Live is set to embark on a UK tour. Produced by Brass Jar Productions (Drunk Shakespeare) and Olivier Award-winning producer James Seabright, Trainspotting Live first officially opened on July 15, 2018.

Trainspotting Live captures the passion and the controversy of the famous novel, then globally successful film, and repackages it into a full-throttle show where the audience are literally part of the action, including the notorious 'Worst Toilet in Scotland' scene.

Spring 2019 at Northern Stage features ambitious new productions made in Newcastle, alongside new shows from some of the UK's most exciting and innovative theatre companies and work made by and for children and young people. Plus comedy, dance and an eclectic programme in the intimate Stage 3 performance space.

Adapted by Harry Gibson, the production captures the passion and controversy of the generation-defining novel and globally successful film and repackages it into a full-throttled stage show where the audience is an integral part of the action, including the notorious 'Worst Toilet in Scotland' scene. Directed by King's Head Theatre Artistic Director, Adam Spreadbury-Maher in collaboration with Greg Esplin (who will also appear in the U.S. production), Trainspotting Live will open a custom-built immersive performance space at 777th 8th Avenue, also home to the long running hit, Drunk Shakespeare. Preview performances are set to begin today, July 5, 2018 with an opening night set for Sunday, July 15, 2018. The U.S. cast of Trainspotting will be announced soon. Freestyle Digital Media, the Digital Film Distribution division of Byron Allen's Entertainment Studios, has acquired the domestic rights to BREAKING & EXITING, a dark comedy/romance that highlights the world of suicide prevention, which is the directorial debut of Peter Facinelli (who portrayed Dr. Cullen in the TWILIGHT SAGA). The film stars Milo Gibson, in his first leading role, and Jordan Hinson, who also wrote the original screenplay, and Adam Huber, and was produced by the all-female trio of Martine Melloul, for Kali Pictures, Cecile Cubilo and Hinson. Andrew van den Houten is executive producing, along with Melloul. The film will be available in theaters and on digital platforms on August 17th, 2018 and DVD on September 18, 2018.
