Kennesaw State University Bailey School of Music will celebrate Black History Month with a festival of five concerts, beginning Feb. 17 and running through Feb. 25.

Harrison Long, Interim Dean of the College of the Arts at Kennesaw State University, has named Julia K. Bullard, D.M.A. as Interim Director of the Dr. Bobbie Bailey School of Music, effective August 1.

A part of Kennesaw State University's School of Art and Design, the Bernard A. Zuckerman Museum of Art (ZMA) collaborated with the Department of Dance this semester to give students the opportunity to create dance performances in response to the exhibitions This Mortal Coil and The Labor of Remembrance: Print and Textile Works by Louise Bourgeois. Two performances, free and open to the public, are scheduled for Friday, Dec. 10 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 11 at 4 p.m.

Internationally renowned cellist Jesús Castro-Balbi will join the KSU Symphony Orchestra on stage on October 21 at 7:30 p.m. Named the Director of the Bailey School of Music on July 1, 2021, Castro-Balbi was first invited to perform at KSU in 2012 as a guest artist.

The collaboration involved numerous groups from KSU's Bailey School of Music (BSOM), including the KSU Chamber Singers, conducted by Dr. Samuel Miller; the KSU Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Dr. Nathaniel Parker; and the Wind Ensemble Brass & Percussion, conducted by Dr. David Kehler.

Performance theatre comes in many forms, yet something about self-proclaimed 'speaker-songwriter' Minton Sparks sets her work apart from the rest, and she has the track record to prove it. Often referred to as the love child of Flannery O'Connor and Hank Williams, Sparks brings her melodic and captivating show to Kennesaw State University February 6-8, hosted by the Department of Theatre and Performance Studies at the Stillwell Theater.

This is not your ordinary play: it features a wrestling match, ballet, jug band, vaudeville show, and a presidential roast. Kennesaw State University's Department of Theatre and Performance Studies will present the cult classic '45 Plays for 45 Presidents' September 24-29 at the Onyx Theater on the Kennesaw campus.

A Walk in the Woods has already been named among Atlanta critic Andrew Alexander's Top 5 Arts Events for the month of June and the two person piece is brought to life by acclaimed Atlanta theatre actors, Allan Edwards and Robin Bloodworth.
