La Jolla Playhouse announces the cast of its world-premiere musical Limelight: The Story of Charlie Chaplin, music and lyrics by Christopher Curtis, book by Christopher Curtis and Thomas Meehan and directed by Michael Unger, running September 7 - October 17, 2010 (media night: Sunday, September 19 at 7:00 pm) in the Mandell Weiss Theatre.

La Jolla Playhouse Artistic Director Christopher Ashley and Managing Director Michael S. Rosenberg are pleased to announce the appointment of Deborah Ann Trimble as the Playhouse's new Director of Development. Ms. Trimble will begin full time duties on September 7, 2010.

Stage and screen vet Polly Bergen has teamed up with Add The Alert program to help fight the missing children epidemic worldwide. 800,000 children go missing every year in the U.S. Add The Alert notifies the public when a child within a 100 miles of where they live goes missing. A picture and a description of the child is sent electronically to members in the hopes of locating the missing child more quickly.

La Jolla Playhouse announces a new family-friendly Page To Stage Workshop Production: Cankerblossom, conceived and created by Pig Iron Theatre Company, directed by Dan Rothenberg, with cartoonist/puppeteer Beth Nixon, music by Rosie Langabeer, set and animation by Mimi Lien, lighting by James Clotfelter, video projection by Josh Higgason, and performed by Hinako Arao, Beth Nixon, David Sweeney and Alex Torra. Cankerblossom will run August 12 - 15, 2010 in the Mandell Weiss Forum, with performances Thursday, August 12 at 7:00 pm; Friday, August 13 at 7:00 pm; Saturday, August 14 at 2:30 pm and 7:00 pm and Sunday, August 15 at 2:30 pm. Tickets are $25 for adults; $20 for subscribers and $15 for children 12 and under.

La Jolla Playhouse is pleased to announce that it was recently named the recipient of a $900,000 grant from The James Irvine Foundation. The grant will fund the Playhouse's new Theatre Without Walls program over the next four years.

The evening will include readings, discussion and an audience Q&A. Tickets are $24, $20 for members.
