This week the Berkshire Theatre Critics Association is voting on the final award list in preparation for the Third Annual Berkshire Theatre Awards. Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony to be held on Monday, November 12 at 7 pm at the Zion Lutheran Church, 74 First Street (Route 7) in Pittsfield, MA.

BroadwayWorld is saddened to report that Joseph Masteroff, the Tony-winning librettist of the international musical classics, Cabaret and She Loves Me, died on September 28th 2018 at the Actors Fund Home in Engelwood, New Jersey. He was 98 years old.

LA MIRADA THEATRE FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS (BT McNicholl, Producing Artistic Director) is pleased to announce that four-time Tony Award nominee Gregg Edelman will direct the reading of a new musical, THE HISTORY OF LIGHT, with book by playwright Michael Small and a score featuring Gilbert & Sullivan classics re-interpreted by Musical Adaptor Lawrence Yurman. With Musical Direction by Scott Harlan, this new work will be presented for one night only, today, August 7that 8pm La Mirada Theatre, 14900 La Mirada Blvd. in La Mirada, CA.

It was a day to "REMEMBER" at the Berkshire Theatre Group on Sunday afternoon July 15,  when the daughter and granddaughters of renowned composer IRVING BERLIN attended a performance of "COMING BACK LIKE A SONG!", which includes many of Berlin's most popular tunes.   

Three of America's greatest songwriters were in The Berkshires last night as The Berkshire Theatre Group presented the World Premiere of  Coming Back Like A Song! on The Fitzpatrick Main Stage. Broadwayworld was there for the curtain call.  Check out the photos...

Berkshire Theatre Group presents Emmy Award-winner Lee Kalcheim's (All in the Family) World Premiere, Coming Back Like a Song!, a play about Irving Berlin, Harold Arlen and Jimmy Van Heusen. Directed by Tony Award-nominated Gregg Edelman (City of Angels, Into The Woods; BTG: Arsenic and Old Lace, Constellations), Coming Back Like a Song! features Tony Award-nominated David Garrison (A Day in Hollywood/A Night in the Ukraine) as Irving Berlin, Philip Hoffman (Cabaret, Falsettos) as Harold Arlen and David Rasche (Sledge Hammer!) as Jimmy Van Heusen. Performances begin Thursday, June 28, 2018 and run through Saturday, July 21, 2018 at The Fitzpatrick Main Stage (83 East Main Street) in Stockbridge, MA. 

Every spring for the last 40 years, something very special has happened in Rockland County: the Penguin Rep, the not-for-profit professional Equity theatre started by artistic director Joe Brancato in 1977, begins its season. BroadwayWorld is saddened to report that the body of missing Broadway talent agent, Mark Schlegel of Oradell, New Jersey, was found this afternoon, August 24, in the bushes a few blocks from his home, according to the Daily Voice.

As BroadwayWorld recently reported, a search is still underway for missing Broadway talent agent, Mark Schlegel. The 57-year-old went missing on August 13, 2017 after returning from a family trip to Scotland.
