MIRACLE ON SOUTH DIVISION STREET Comes to Virginia Rep ImageVirginia Rep opens the 2017-18 Hanover Tavern season this winter with Miracle on South Division Street, a heartwarming family comedy by Tom Dudzick. Miracle on South Division Street tells the story of the Nowaks of Buffalo, New York, and the hilarious revelation that shakes their family's beliefs to the core. This heartfelt comedy opens Friday, December 1, 2017, at Hanover Tavern, 13181 Hanover Courthouse Road and runs through December 31, 2017.

Director Debra Clinton has assembled a cast of Richmond favorites for this holiday production. Clinton's recent directing credits for Virginia Rep include 1776, The Whipping Man and the family hit Croaker: The Frog Prince Musical, which she co-wrote with Jason Marks.

The production stars Catherine Shaffner as Clara, who has starred in several Virginia Rep productions, including The Charitable Sisterhood of Second Trinity Victory Church, Steel Magnolias and Nunsense. The cast also features Donna Marie Miller whose recent credits include The Charitable Sisterhood, The Charitable Sisterhood Christmas Spectacular, The Golden Goose. Audra Honaker, who recently directed Virginia Rep's production of Akeelah and the Bee and has been seen in several Virginia Rep productions including Mame and Fiddler on the Roof will play the role of Ruth. John Mincks rounds out the cast, after most recently starring in Virginia Rep's 2012 production of Spring Awakening.

Playwright Tom Dudzick's first play, a Christmas tale called Greetings!, opened at New York's John Houseman Theatre and starred Darren McGavin and Gregg Edelman. His next play, Over the Tavern, the first in a semi-autobiographical trilogy, broke many box office records throughout the US. He was recently honored with a memorial plaque embedded in front of his boyhood home in Buffalo, New York.
