The June 2019 So-fi festival announces that it will be presenting works at The Clemente's Los Kabayitos and Flamboyan Theaters (107 Suffolk St. between Rivington & Delancey) and Westbeth (463 West Street between Bethune and West 12th St) June 6th-23rd 2019.

MTC Announces Full Cast For CONTINUITY

Lynne Meadow (Artistic Director) and Barry Grove (Executive Producer) are pleased to announce the complete casting for the world premiere of Continuity, the new play by Lortel and Drama Desk Award nominee Bess Wohl (Small Mouth Sounds, American Hero) and directed by Tony Award nominee Rachel Chavkin (Hadestown; Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812). The production will feature Max Baker (1984, The Explorers Club), Jasmine Batchelor (The River), Rosal Colon ('Orange is the New Black,' Between Riverside and Crazy), Curran Connor (Pidgeon, A Picture of Autumn), Garcia ('Tales of the City'), Darren Goldstein (Lillian Hellman's The Little Foxes, The Madrid), Alex Hurt (Cardinal, The Whirligig) and Megan Ketch (The Big Wedding, 'American Gothic').

James Stevenson Prize For Comedic Short Plays Returns For Second Year

Playing on Air today announced the return of the James Stevenson Prize for Comedic Short Plays. Founded last year, the Stevenson Prize honors bold, original comedies that embody the spirit and wit of the late New Yorker cartoonist James Stevenson. The competition, sponsored by Stevenson's wife Josie Merck, offers one of the nation's largest prizes specifically for short plays: first prize of $7,500 and a full audio production, second prize of $2,000, and third prize of $1,000.

David Harbour, Sue Jean Kim, Ciaran Hinds, And Molly Bernard Set For Playing On Air's Winter/Spring 2019

Announced today, Playing on Air's Winter/Spring 2019 season will include work by playwrights Gracie Gardner and Chiara Atik. The season will also include the April release of the highly-anticipated live recording of David Auburn's AN UPSET, starring David Harbour (Netflix's "Stranger Things," Hellboy) and Steven Boyer (Hand To God, NBC's "Trial & Error") and the re-release of Lynn Nottage's POOF! with Audra McDonald, Tonya Pinkins, and Keith Randolph Smith.  

Harrison David Rivers Named Recipient of 2018 Relentless Award

The American Playwriting Foundation, established to make annual grants to new American plays, has selected Harrison David Rivers for The 2018 Relentless Award, the largest annual cash prize in American theater awarded to a play.

The Exponential Festival Announces Lineup And Venues

The Exponential Festival, a month-long January festival for NYC-based emerging, experimental performing artists, is proud to announce the lineup of artists and venues for its fourth year of programming. Performances will take place January 4 - February 3 in partnership with The Brick, Chez Bushwick, The Glove, JACK, Target Margin Theater's The Doxsee, Triskelion's Douglas Elliman Studio Theater and Vital Joint. Panels will take place at The Bushwick Starr. The participants in this multi-artist, multi-venue festival are committed to ecstatic creativity in the face of commercialism. HATE BABY, HEDGEHOG YEARS, and HORSE LATITUDE Win Inaugural James Stevenson Prize For Comedic Short Plays

Playing On Air announced today the three winners of the inaugural James Stevenson Prize for comedic short plays. First Prize ($7,500, plus a Playing On Air recording for radio and podcast distribution) has been awarded to Hate Baby by Gracie Gardner. (Gardner is also the winner of the 2017 Relentless Award and author of the New York Times Critic's Pick Athena.) Second Prize ($2,000) has been awarded to Hedgehog Years by Lily Akerman. Third Prize ($1,000) has been awarded to Horse Latitudes (Who Wants to be an Equine Extra?) by Elizabeth Logun.

Rivendell Announces Casting And Opening Date For SCIENTIFIC METHOD

Rivendell Theatre Ensemble (RTE), Chicago's only Equity theatre dedicated to producing new work with women at the core, presents the World Premiere of Scientific Method by Jenny Connell Davis, directed by Devon de Mayo, and featuring RTE Member Ashley Neal, with Glenn Obrero, Josh Odor, Courtney Williams and Carmen Roman. Scientific Method runs October 19 - December 2, 2018, at Rivendell Theatre Ensemble, 5779 N. Ridge Avenue in Chicago.  The press opening is Tuesday October 30, 2018 at 7:00pm.

JACK Announces its Fall Performance Season

A mix of emerging and established artists fills the fall roster at multi-disciplinary performance venue JACK, with acknowledged masters Toshi Reagon and trumpeter Peter Evans sharing a season with up-and-comers, including playwright Stacey Rose, solo performer Kareem M. Lucas, playwright Robert Quillen Camp and Bessie-nominated dancer Shamar Wayne Watt, among others. Special highlights are the return of the acclaimed Gracie Gardner play, ATHENA, Korean choreographer In Kyung Lee with Vogel, a poetic piece focused on the female gaze, Black Revolutionary Theater Workshop with the premiere of Sheyenne Javonne Brown's Summoned, in which Orpheus and Eurydice meet the Black Lives Matter movement, and irreverent dancer/choreographer Greg Zuccolo with his "danced play," Busy White People, Goodnight.
