It will be the mother of all star-studded galas! On Mother's Day the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (producers of last season's critically acclaimed and Drama Desk-nominated musical "The Golden Bride," and current producers on the upcoming Broadway stage play "Indecent") presents a unique gala concert, "Our Leading Ladies," celebrating the contributions of women in the arts, business, science, and philanthropy, at the NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts, 566 LaGuardia Place, on Sunday, May 14, at 6:30pm.

Fresh off of his critically acclaimed run as Patrick Ness in the new Off-Broadway production of 'YES' at The Manhattan Repertory Theatre, frequent New York concert staple and 2016 Thespis Award Nominee Tim Realbuto will return to Feinstein's/54 Below for the first time since 2014. In his all new show Tim Realbuto: Made of Glass, Realbuto and friends will sing the tunes of pop superstar Demi Lovato. But don't expect to hear your favorite typical arrangements. Realbuto, longtime musical director Julianne B. Merrill, and 'Ghostlight' collaborator Matthew Martin will arrange many of Ms. Lovato's greatest hits to sound more jazzy and Broadway in style (although many of Lovato's classics will remain the same).

The performance schedule has been changed for 'Light Up The Night,' a theatrical concert of rediscovered and restored Yiddish theater songs by Ellstein, Goldfaden, Olshanetsky, Rumshinsky, and Secunda, to be presented by National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF) January 1 in Edmond J. Safra Hall at Museum of Jewish Heritage, 36 Battery Place, Manhattan. Originally two shows were planned, at 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM. The 2:00 PM performance continues as scheduled but the 6:00 PM performance has been canceled.
Bryna Wasserman officially stepped down as executive director of The National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF) last night at a lavish gala concert and dinner honoring Golden Globe nominee and Tony winner Liev Schreiber. The 'Golden Gala' at the Museum of Jewish Heritage featured a concert starring a line-up of young performers with dazzling voices, including three stars of the Drama Desk-nominated musical, 'The Golden Bride,' Rachel Policar, Cameron Johnson and Adam B. Shapiro. They were joined by two superlative young singers, Grace Field and Daniel Greenwood. Folksbiene's artistic director Zalmen Mlotek led a 16-piece orchestra.

To ring in the New Year, on January 1 National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene (NYTF) will present 'Light Up The Night,' a concert of rediscovered and restored pre- and post-WWII music from the theatrical works of the great composers of the Golden Age of Yiddish Theater. These include Ellstein, Goldfaden, Olshanetsky, Rumshinsky and Secunda. All are leading songwriters from the era of 'The Golden Bride,' which was presented by Folksbiene Theatre in 2015 and 2016. The cast will feature performers who were acclaimed in that production, backed by a 16-piece orchestra. The production is in Yiddish with projected supertitles. The full concert will be offered twice, at 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM, in Edmond J. Safra Hall at Museum of Jewish Heritage, 36 Battery Place.
