Photo Flash: OVER THE TAVERN Opens At Theatre At The Center

Over the Tavern opened to a full house Sunday at Theatre at the Center in Munster. The play by Tom Dudzick is directed by Ericka Mac with Janet Ulrich Brooks as Sister Clarissa, Logan Baffico as Rudy, Cory Goodrich as Ellen, Isabelle Roberts as Annie, Eric Slater as Chet, Julian Solis as Georgie and Seth Steinberg as Eddie. Over the Tavern offers a hilarious look at family life in the 1950s.  Over the Tavern continues its run through August 11.

The Politically Conscious Theater Company Presents 24-Hour Reading of The Mueller Report

The Neo-Futurist Theater announce that it will host a 24-hour staged reading of a redacted version of the report delivered by Special Counsel Robert Mueller beginning on August 9th, 2019 7:30 PM. The Neo-Futurists, who are celebrating their 30th anniversary this year as an established Chicago company, see the artistic movement's desire to maintain the report in public discourse as a part of the ongoing mission of the company to engage community in a timely piece that addresses the current constitutional quagmire.

Court Theatre Announces Casting For KING HEDLEY II

Court Theatre, under the continuing leadership of Charles Newell, Marilyn F. Vitale Artistic Director, and Angel Ysaguirre, Executive Director, has announced casting for August Wilson's King Hedley II, directed by Resident Artist Ron OJ Parson. King Hedley II runs September 12 - October 13, 2019 at Court Theatre, 5535 S. Ellis Ave. The press opening is Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 7:30pm.

BWW Review: THE MUSIC MAN at Goodman Theatre

Director Mary Zimmerman lends her whimsy to THE MUSIC MAN at Goodman Theatre in a production that pays homage to the small-town charm and iconic score of Meredith Willson's classic musical. Under Zimmerman's direction, this MUSIC MAN becomes a joyful company piece showcasing, in particular, the talents of the formidable actors in the supporting and ensemble roles. The production finds all the earnest humor embedded in THE MUSIC MAN, and Jermaine Hill's music direction ensures that each note rings out fully from the 12-member orchestra.

Haven Announces 2019-20 Season

NNPN Announces 2019-20 Program Awardees

National New Play Network, the country's alliance of professional theaters that collaborate in innovative ways to develop, produce, and extend the life of new plays, announces its 2019-20 grant recipients, including the 2019 Smith Prize for Political Theatre, seven Producer Residencies, and eight Collaboration Fund awards that will support partnerships between multiple Member Theaters, playwrights, and other theater makers in various projects.

Dorset Theatre Festival's Pipeline Series Of New Plays Continues With THREE GIRLS NEVER LEARNT THE WAY HOME

Dorset Theatre Festival, under the leadership of Artistic Director Dina Janis and Producing Director Will Rucker, will present Three Girls Never Learnt The Way Home by Matthew Paul Olmos on Tuesday, July 23, 2019. This is the second reading of the acclaimed Pipeline Series of three one-night-only presentations of new work. Three Girls was most recently read in New York City as part of the Mentor Project at the Cherry Lane Theatre in March 2019. Olmos is a three-time Sundance Institute FellowshipResidency recipient and his play so go the ghosts of mexico, part one was a New York Times Critic's Pick.

PCPA's Kitty Balay Selected For Tyne Daly Master Class

Every year, since 2009, The Ten Chimneys Foundation, which facilitates the Lunt-Fontanne Fellowship Program, brings together just ten of the nation's top regional theatre actors to work with a world-renowned Master Teacher. This year, PCPA's Kitty Balay was selected to join leading actors and acting teachers who were chosen from an exclusive list of only ten national theatres. The actors will participate in a week of master classes headed by distinguished actress Tyne Daly from July 14 - 20, 2019. The intensive master class will take place at the estate of theatre legends Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne in Genesee Depot, Wisconsin. This is a life-altering opportunity for the selected theatre actors to expand their creative and mentoring abilities.

Resident Artists Announced For The Jilline Ringle Solo Performance Program

1812 Productions is pleased to announce the residents of the 2019 Jilline Ringle Solo Performance Program. The summer residencies provide essential time and space for artists to continue development of original solo works.  This year, 1812 Productions and the Advisory Board of the Jilline Ringle Solo Performance Program are pleased to award residencies to Brett Robinson, Jessica Johnson, TS Hawkins, and Gwendolyn Rice. The summer residencies will take place from Saturday, July 6th through Sunday, July 14th at 1812 Productions' rehearsal studio in South Philadelphia.

BWW Review: Encores! Off-Center Turns WORKING Into A Tribute To New York City Center's Employees

Unlike the vast majority of musicals granted concert productions by City Center's Encores! Off-Center, the collaborate effort known as WORKING did not play an Off-Broadway run before hitting Times Square. Instead, Chicago's Goodman Theatre production transferred to the 46th Street Theatre in 1978, where it garnered numerous Tony nominations, including best musical.

The new comedy musical Supportive White Parents, a 2019 Fringe Scholarship recipient, will play five performances in the Festival at the Broadwater Black Box, it was announced today. With book and lyrics by Joy Regullano, music by The Sam & Tony Show, music direction by Tony Gonzalez, choreography by Ally Vega, and under the direction of Frank Caeti, the running schedule will be Sunday 69 at 5:30pm; Sunday 616 at 9:30pm; Wednesday 626 at 10pm; Friday 628 at 5pm; Sunday 630 at 11am. Running time will be 30 minutes.

The Public Theater Begins Performances For New York Premiere Of MOJADA

 The Public Theater (Artistic Director, Oskar Eustis; Executive Director, Patrick Willingham) will begin performances for the New York premiere of MOJADA on Tuesday, July 2 with a Joseph Papp Free Preview in The Public's LuEsther Hall. Written by MacArthur Genius Award-winning playwright Luis Alfaro and directed by Obie Award-winning directorChay Yew, MOJADA is a bold new telling of a story as old as tragedy itself. MOJADA will run through Sunday, August 11, with an official press opening on Wednesday, July 17.

Theater for the New City's BARABBAS Opens Thursday

Theater for the New City, the Pulitzer Prize winning community cultural center that produces over thirty premieres of new American plays each year, is pleased to announce the world premiere of Will T.F. Carter's new play Barabbas, directed by Eduardo Machado.
