Good morning BroadwayWorld! Today's top stories: Moulin Rouge announces the details of its Broadway transfer, and more!

Producer Carmen Pavlovic (Global Creatures) just announced that Moulin Rouge!, based on the 2001 Twentieth Century Fox Motion Picture by Baz Luhrmann, will open on Broadway at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. Previews will begin June 28, 2019 prior to a July 25 opening night.

Carmen Pavlovic, Global Creatures CEO has announced the actors playing the roles of one of the greatest stage and screen friendships of all time: Muriel and Rhonda in the upcoming Melbourne and Sydney seasons of Muriel's Wedding The Musical.

Best-selling recording artist, X-Factor winner and West End star Matt Cardle stars with the cast of Strictly Ballroom The Musical through until the end of the celebrated run at the Piccadilly Theatre, on Saturday 27 October. Based on Baz Luhrmann's acclaimed film and now transformed into a spectacular and joyous West End musical, Matt plays the role of band leader Wally Strand.

Last night at the Australian Writers' Guild's annual AWGIE Awards PJ Hogan was honoured with the Music Theatre Award and the 2018 David Williamson Prize for Muriel's Wedding the Musical.  These two major and prestigious AWGIE acknowledgements continue to add to the productions' unprecedented list of award wins which also includes 5 Helpmann Awards and 7 Sydney Theatre Awards.  

Producers of Broadway's King Kong, Carmen Pavlovic (Global Creatures) and Roy Furman, have just released "Queen of New York," a new music video featuring Christiani Pitts, who stars as Ann Darrow in the new musical. 

This August 21, the Jacob Burns Film Center (Pleasantville, NY) will be screening the original 1933 classic King Kong before it comes alive on Broadway this fall. Following the screening will be a Q&A with the Musical Creative Team, including Olivier Award-winning director & choreographer Drew McOnie, Helpmann Award-winning set & projection designer Peter England, Helpmann Award-winning creature designer Sonny Tilders and lead producer & Global Creatures CEO Carmen Pavlovic, the discussion will be moderated by four-time Tony-winning Broadway producer Dori Berinstein.

The Actors Fund announced today that tickets are now on sale for a special screening of the original 1933 film King Kong, in partnership with the Jacob Burns Film Center (JBFC) as part of their ongoing film series, 'Life on the Stage: Conversation and Film.' The screening will be followed by a Q&A with members of the creative team of the upcoming Broadway musical

Rehearsals begin today, Monday, July 30, for the new musical King Kong. The production begins performances Friday, October 5 prior to a Thursday, November 8 opening night at the Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway).

The pre-Broadway engagement of Moulin Rouge! The Musical begins performances tonight, Tuesday July 10, at the Emerson Colonial Theatre. The production runs through August 19.

Producers Carmen Pavlovic (Global Creatures) and Roy Furman have announced additional casting for the new musical King Kong. Joining the previously announced Christiani Pitts, (A Bronx Tale) as Ann Darrow, and Eric William Morris (Mamma Mia!) as Carl Denham, will be Erik Lochtefeld (Misery, Metamorphoses) as Lumpy.

The pre-Broadway engagement of Moulin Rouge! The Musical, has been extended before performances even begin due to popular demand. Originally scheduled to play from June 27 through August, 5, 2018, the production will now run through August 19, for 16 additional performances. The official opening night is Sunday, July 22.
