The Glenn Miller Orchestra Returns to Portland

The Glenn Miller Orchestra from New York will perform one night only in Portland as they tour the world, bringing timeless classics like In the Mood, Moonlight Serenade, Chattanooga Choo Choo, Pennsylvania 6-5000, String of Pearls and Tuxedo Junction back to the stage. Even 80 years after founding his famous orchestra, Glenn Miller's music is alive and well.

Fasten your seat belts --- THE BANG GROUP'S delightfully offbeat Nut/Cracked returns for its 17th Anniversary Season with an ensemble of 19 dancers spreading holiday cheer. David Parker's comic, neo-vaudeville version of 'The Nutcracker' will return for four performances, December 19-21, at The Flea, 20 Thomas Street, in downtown Manhattan. Special guests for the season are students from Steffi Nossen Dance Company, Frank Sinatra High School for the Performing Arts, and e.g. dance.

Houston Chamber Choir Nominated for Grammy Award for Best Choral Performance

Houston Chamber Choir's has been nominated for a 2020 GRAMMY® Award for 'Best Choral Performance' for its Signum Records recording of 'Duruflé: Complete Choral Works,' a performance of music by 20th century French composer Maurice Duruflé. The recording was also part of a second GRAMMY® nomination: Blanton Alspaugh was nominated for Producer of the Year, Classical, for his work on eight recordings including Houston Chamber Choir's Duruflé recording.

The Winter Celebration concert features the four levels of orchestras in InterSchool Orchestras of New York including Morningside, Carnegie Hill, Concert Orchestra and the ISO Symphony, conducted by Dr. Matt Rotjan, Steve Rochen, Joseph Meyers, and Barry Stern respectively. Sony Music Masterworks today releases THE IRISHMAN (ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK), an album of music from the Martin Scorsese-directed film starring Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci.  Available everywhere now, the soundtrack features music carefully curated by Scorsese and music supervisor Randall Poster (The Wolf of Wall Street, Boardwalk Empire) as a sonic companion to the film's enthralling narrative of organized crime in postwar America.  The twenty-track collection includes top hits by legendary artists Fats Domino, Jackie Gleason, Jerry Vale, Johnny Ray, Marty Robbins, Pérez Prado and more, as well as a new theme composed by legendary guitarist and composer Robbie Robertson.  Making its critically-acclaimed world premiere at this year's New York Film Festival, The Irishman is in theaters now and begins streaming on Netflix Wednesday, November 27.
