Milwaukee Chamber Theatre (MCT) presents UNDERNEATH THE LINTEL by Glen Berger, February 20 - March 17, 2013. In UNDERNEATH THE LINTEL, a librarian pursues the mystery of a travel guidebook that is 113 years overdue. This one-man show features James Ridge who was last seen at MCT in DICKENS IN AMERICA. UNDERNEATH THE LINTEL performs in the Broadway Theatre Center's Studio Theatre in Milwaukee's Historic Third Ward.

In UNDERNEATH THE LINTEL, a puzzling mystery begins when a Dutch librarian discovers a surprise in the overnight return slot ...a travel guidebook that is 113 years overdue! The man, who has never left his native town of Hoofddorp, grows determined to track down the offender. As he travels around the world on his obsessive search, he finds himself on a journey that not only unlocks ancient mysteries, but moves him to new revelations.

UNDERNEATH THE LINTEL marks the third time MCT Producing Artistic Director C. Michael Wright has directed James Ridge in a one-man show. Previous productions were DICKENS IN AMERICA (at MCT and American Players Theatre) and A NIGHT IN NOVEMBER (at Next Act Theatre, Madison Rep and Riverside Theatre in Vero Beach, Florida). Mr. Ridge has been a company member at American Players Theatre in Spring Green, Wisconsin for sixteen years. His previous MCT credits include UNDER MILK WOOD, TOO TRUE TO BE GOOD and WAITING FOR GODOT.

Glen Berger's UNDERNEATH THE LINTEL opened Off-Broadway in 2001 and ran for more than 450 performances. It was named one of Time Out New York's Ten Best Plays of 2001. UNDERNEATH THE LINTEL has had 150 productions worldwide in eight countries. Mr. Berger is the co-writer of the current Broadway production SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK which opened in 2011. His other plays include GREAT MEN OF SCIENCE, NOS. 21 & 22; THE WOODEN BREEKS; I WILL GO...I WILL GO; ON WORDS AND ONWARDS and O LOVELY GLOWWORM. In television, he has won two Emmys (12 nominations) and has written more than 200 episodes for children's television seen on PBS, NBC and the BBC including "Arthur," "Fetch" and "Curious George."

UNDERNEATH THE LINTEL is the final production in the "Exploring Jewish Voices" series, which is a collaboration between MCT, Jewish Museum Milwaukee and the Jewish Community Center. MCT's 2012-2013 season features three plays by prominent Jewish playwrights: A THOUSAND CLOWNS by Herb Gardner, COLLECTED STORIES by Donald Margulies and UNDERNEATH THE LINTEL by Glen Berger. The three groups have partnered to provide additional education and outreach opportunities including preshow 'ViewPoints' lectures and 'Jewish Community Ticket' performances.
