With a book by Tony Award winnerTerrence McNally and music and lyrics by Drama Desk Award winner David Yazbek, the hilarious and heartwarming story follows six unemployed Buffalo steelworkers who, in need of quick cash and low on prospects, come up with the outrageous idea to put on a strip act after seeing the local women's wild enthusiasm for touring Chippendales dancers. Opening night is tomorrow, September 11. If 'Every Movie's a Circus,' as a song midway through the first act proclaims, the Short North Stage's season opening production of SUNSET BOULEVARD must be a very grand carnival. Phoenix Theatre will present a star-studded cast, including some of Phoenix's favorite actors, when Stephen Sondheim's Company opens on April 22, 2009 for a limited engagement. Company follows on the heals of Phoenix Theatre's biggest hit in its 88 year history, Les Miserables.

Company is described as 'on the night of his 35th birthday, confirmed bachelor Robert contemplates his unmarried state. In vignette after hilarious vignette, we are introduced to his married friends as Robert weighs the pros and cons of married life'.

Phoenix Theatre's production has been produced in collaboration with Arkansas Repertory Theatre.
