A new book by American History Workshop (AHW) president Richard Rabinowitz Curating America: Journeys through Storyscapes of the American Past (University of North Carolina Press, publication date November 1, 2016) explores the radically altered landscape of public interest in and engagement with American history.

American Lyric Theater (ALT) - founded by Lawrence Edelson in 2005 to build a new body of operatic repertoire by nurturing composers and librettists and providing an incubator for their collaborations - announces its 2016-2017 Season. The season begins with the InsightALT series, providing an insider's look at how new operas are made, featuring concert readings of operas in development at ALT, including The Halloween Tree, The Life and Death(s) of Alan Turing, and Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Fallen Giant. The season concludes with the return of the critically acclaimed ALT Alumni: Composers & Librettists in Concert, celebrating the success of prominent alumni of American Lyric Theater's innovative Composer Librettist Development Program. Last April, the George London Foundation for Singers concluded the 20th year of its celebrated George London Foundation Recital Series with a gala featuring some of opera's most prominent American and Canadian stars.  The foundation has been honoring, supporting, and presenting the finest young opera singers in the U.S. and Canada since 1971, and the annual series presents pairs of outstanding opera singers, many of whom were winners of a George London Award, the prize of the foundation's annual vocal competition.

An additional $6 million grant will allow 100,000 students to see HAMILTON on tour and participate in special educational programs.

The Chamber Orchestra of New York, Salvatore Di Vittorio, Music Director, will present Respighi & Mozart's Jupiter, a concert tonight, June 23 - 7:30 PM at Gilder Lehrman Hall of The Morgan Library & Museum, 225 Madison Avenue in Manhattan.
