Kenneth Branagh completes his company's first year-long Garrick residency by starring in John Osborne's The Entertainer - once more following in the footsteps of Laurence Olivier. The production is currently in previews, opening to press tonight, and plays until 12 November. It will also be broadcast live to cinemas across the UK and internationally on 27 October.

Rehearsal images are released today for the Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company's THE ENTERTAINER, the final production in the year-long Plays at the Garrick season. The production will play at the Garrick from 20 August until 12 November, with press night on 30 August. The Entertainer will also be broadcast live to cinemas across the UK and internationally on 27 October.

Gawn Grainger has joined the Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company production of The Entertainer, which began rehearsals this week. Gawn is playing Billy Rice and replaces John Hurt who, on the advice of his doctors, recently had to withdraw from the production.

Dominic Rowan will star as 'Alexander Lopakhin' opposite Kate Duchene in the play adapted by Olivier winner Simon Stephens (A Doll's House, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time). Also starring are Angus Wright, Gawn Grainger and Paul Hilton.

NATIONAL THEATRE LIVE has announced an international broadcast of the National Theatre of Great Britain's production of Euripides' Greek tragedy MEDEA, in a new version by Ben Power, directed by Carrie Cracknell and starring Helen McCrory in the title role. The production features Joseph Millson and Samantha Spiro as the murderous couple at the heart of the play, with Billy Boyd as Banquo and Gawn Grainger as Duncan.
