Kenneth Branagh completes his company's first year-long Garrick residency by starring in John Osborne's The Entertainer - once more following in the footsteps of Laurence Olivier. The production is currently in previews, opening to press tonight, and plays until 12 November. It will also be broadcast live to cinemas across the UK and internationally on 27 October.

Gawn Grainger has joined the Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company production of The Entertainer, which began rehearsals this week. Gawn is playing Billy Rice and replaces John Hurt who, on the advice of his doctors, recently had to withdraw from the production.

NATIONAL THEATRE LIVE has announced an international broadcast of the National Theatre of Great Britain's production of Euripides' Greek tragedy MEDEA, in a new version by Ben Power, directed by Carrie Cracknell and starring Helen McCrory in the title role.
