The classic Queen album 'A Night At The Opera' is performed live in sequence, in its entirety, by Fairfield Center Stage. This has been a truly amazing performance, showing an incredibly high level of talent.
Fairfield Center Stage continues its inaugural season with the award-winning musical DREAMGIRLS, running six performances only, March 1-9. It is always a thrill when you discover a hidden gem in your own backyard. This was the experience I had last night attending my first show by the Connecticut Theatre Company in New Britain, Connecticut. It is appropriate that my first review for this company would be for RAGTIME, the Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty musical (with book by Terrence McNally) that includes a variety of themes including a focus on new experiences, changes in perspective, and listening to new music . I am thrilled to report that CTC's RAGTIME is a powerful and high-quality telling of the classic E.L. Doctorow tale. It hits all the right notes (literally and figuratively) and may be one of the best ensemble casts I have seen on a community theatre stage in Connecticut.
A fun loving show with incredible cast and heartening tale of love and acceptance.

Bridgeport Theatre Company, soon to celebrate four years since it was founded, is presenting Dreamgirls, the big, bold, groundbreaking musical. The Henry Krieger-Tom Eyen show premiered in 1981 and is loosely based on Diana Ross and The Supremes and other singers who helped make Motown a huge crossover success. More than 30 years later, it is still a terrific show, but a little cutting would make it easier for today's audiences to digest.
