Garth Kravits Talks Passion for Theatre: 'I just knew in my heart that's what I wanted'

When Garth Kravits approached his parents with the thought of leaving school and heading into the wedding-singing business, they were not exactly thrilled at first, though given the family's involvement with community theatre, they eventually accepted his decision. Years later, and ready to open in a production of 'Crossing Delancey' at the Bickford Theatre, Kravits attributes his evolution as an artist to the years he spent as a wedding singer, 'My high school drama teacher told me it doesn't matter if there's one person in the back row or 1,000 people, you should give it the same passion,' he says in an interview with New Jersey Online, 'It's the same for weddings - there are those where the crowd is energized and animated and thrilled to be there, and there are those weddings where the guests are picking at the salmon, glassy-eyed.'
