Funny, surprising, sentimental and sometimes scandalous stories are all part of InterAct Theatre Company's season kick-off event on October 1. The unique event brings together Philadelphia theatre favorites not only to celebrate InterAct's 25 years, but also in celebration of Philadelphia's theatre boom, which started 25 years ago as well.
Clybourne Park, the 2012 Tony Award-winning 'Best Play', ends its Broadway run-extended twice already-today, September 2nd, at the Walter Kerr Theatre. Also the winner of the 2011 Pulitzer Prize and Olivier Award, Clybourne Park is the wickedly funny and fiercely provocative new play about race, real estate and the volatile values of each. By its final performance today, the play will have played 27 previews and 157 regular performances.

Earlier today, producer Jordan Roth and cast members from Clybourne Park were on hand at Serendipity 3 to sample the scrumptious Clybourne Park Neapolitan Sundae which will be available at the popular midtown restaurant throughout the month of July. Packed with a combustible mix of ingredients, the delicious sundae boasts three provocatively large scoops of vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ice cream brilliantly drenched in white chocolate sauce and milk chocolate fudge.

Off-Broadway theater company Playwrights Horizons celebrated its annual Spring Gala yesterday evening, June 11th at the event space 583 Park Avenue. Titled "The Highest Standard", the evening celebrated its five Pulitzer Prize-winning productions and honor the creators of these memorable works for the theater. The honorees were James Lapine (Sunday in the Park with George), Bruce Norris (Clybourne Park), Stephen Sondheim (Sunday in the Park with George), Alfred Uhry (Driving Miss Daisy), Wendy Wasserstein (The Heidi Chronicles) and Doug Wright (I Am My Own Wife).

Yesterday, May 24, New Dramatists honored two-time Tony Award winner Bernadette Peters with their 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award at its 63rd Annual Spring Luncheon tribute at the New York Marriott Marquis. Among those who offered tributes were Emmy Award-winner Mary Tyler Moore, Peters' Tony Award-winning A Little Night Music co-star Elaine Stritch, and New Dramatists Artistic Director Todd London. It took two years, a Pulitzer Prize and an Olivier Award-winning London production before happening, but Bruce Norris' searing satire, Clybourne Park, has finally made the six-block transfer from Off-Broadway's Playwright's Horizon to Broadway's Walter Kerr Theatre. The original ensemble of director Pam MacKinnon's excellent 2010 production has been reunited for the playwright's scathing telling of the racial integration of a Chicago neighborhood, as seen through the history of one very significant home.
