Stratford's Square One Theatre Company concluded its twenty-ninth anniversary season recently with the annual presentation of its Subscriber Awards. The awards were selected by the theatre's nearly 1,000 subscribers who voted for performers in various acting categories from the company's three-play, 2018-19 season. This was the fourth year for the theatre's new space onstage at Stratford Academy.

A Noise Within (ANW) is proud to announce the return of its Words Within Resident Artist Reading Festival from July 26 through July 28, 2019. ANW will partner with three Los Angeles-based theatre companies, Lower Depth Theatre Ensemble, East West Players, and Latino Theater Company, for the free reading festival, titled inVision. A Noise Within and its festival partners will produce eight staged readings over the course of three days at ANW's East Pasadena campus. This is the second reading festival ANW has produced. ANW's first reading festival, The American Dream, launched the classic repertory theatre company's 25th anniversary season when it premiered in summer 2016. The festival is an extension of ANW's popular Words Within reading series, which began over 10 years ago and to date has produced 46 staged reading performances by the company's resident artists.

Ayodele Casel,a disciplined and brave performer who honors the roots of tap dance while pushing the boundaries of the art form, has been named a 2019-2020 Frances B.Cashin fellow at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University. Joining more than 50 incoming fellows as they pursue work across the sciences, social sciences, humanities, and art, Ayodele will direct her energy toward research and development of a new theatrical work inspired by the historical context of tap dance's cultural heritage.

The 2019 class is 50% women, 29% people of color, and represents 59 countries. Those who accept the invitations will be the only additions to the Academy's membership in 2019.
