WHBPAC Musical Theatre Camp to Present THE SECRET GARDEN, 7/14-18

Calling all young actors and actresses! WHBPAC's Arts Education Program is looking for youngsters, ages 6* - 16, to participate in its week-long summer Musical Theatre Camp, The Secret Garden. Campers will rehearse from Monday, July 14 through Friday, July 18 culminating in a public performance on Friday night. The fee for the camp is $450.

THE SECRET GARDEN Comes to the Open Air Theatre, 6/20-29

A mysterious tale filled with splendid music, The Secret Garden opens at New Jersey's Washington Crossing Open Air Theatre on Friday, June 20 at 7:30pm. The musical continues for two weekends through June 29 with performances on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 7:30 pm.

Gettysburg Community Theatre opens the musical, The Secret Garden, tonight, June 12, as part of the Gettysburg Fringe Festival 2014. The Secret Garden will perform at GCT located at 49 York Street within the first block of Lincoln Square in historic downtown Gettysburg June 12, 13, 20 and 21 at 7pm and June 15 and 22 at 2pm.

THE SECRET GARDEN needs a good dose of Miracle-Gro to overcome a lack of vitality. A beautiful, lush score is weighed down by the sluggishness of the tale and static direction. The company has the vocals to do justice to the music and several performers shine, but this garden has a dearth of color.

Today in 1991, The Secret Garden opened at the St. James Theatre, where it ran for 709 performances.The Secret Garden is a musical based on the 1911 novel of the same name by Frances Hodgson Burnett. The musical's book and lyrics are by Marsha Norman, with music by Lucy Simon. Directed by Susan H. Schulman with choreography by Michael Lichtefeld, the cast featured Daisy Eagan, Mandy Patinkin, and Rebecca Luker. It won the 1991 Tony Awards for Best Book of a Musical, Best Featured Actress in a Musical (Daisy Eagan), and Best Scenic Design (Heidi Landesman).
