Just in! Marsha Norman and Lucy Simon's THE SECRET GARDEN will be coming to Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall next year, according to a print announcement in tonight's program for Manhattan Concert Productions' PARADE. THE SECRET GARDEN will be performed on February 22, 2016 as the company's next musical.

Stay tuned for more details as we have them!

With book & lyrics by Norman and music by Simon, based on the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett, THE SECRET GARDEN premiered on Broadway in 1991 and closed in 1993 after 709 performances.

The original production was directed by Susan H. Schulman with choreography by Michael Lichtefeld and Daisy Eagan in the lead role of 'Mary Lennox.'

The musical won the 1991 Tony Awards for Best Book (Norman), Best Featured Actress (Eagan, as the youngest female recipient of a Tony at age 11) and Best Scenic Design (Heidi Landesman).

The story follows Mary Lennox, a young British girl orphaned by a cholera outbreak and sent from India to Yorkshire, England, to live with relatives she has never met. She meets a young gardener and befriends her sick cousin and uncle, learning about herself in the process.

Aside from tonight's presentation of PARADE, among Manhattan Concert Productions' past credits are last year's TITANIC, 2013's RAGTIME and more.

Who do you think should play the leading lady at Lincoln Center next winter?
