The Secret Garden continues for a second weekend at the Washington Crossing Open Air Theatre. Performances are Friday, June 27, Saturday, June 28 and Sunday, June 29 at 7:30 pm.

Based on the famous novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett, The Secret Garden is a beautiful coming of age story filled with wonderment and surprise. Mary, an eleven-year-old living in British India, is forced from her home by tragedy. She finds herself in Yorkshire, England, on the estate of her reclusive uncle, Archibald Craven. What ensues is a compelling mixture of love, suspense and rebirth in which the raw power of nature gives way to miracle and magic. The stunning musical score and classic story combine to create one of the most powerful theatrical experiences of all time.

Opening on Broadway in 1991, The Secret Garden won over audiences, claiming three Tony Awards and three Drama Desk Awards. The musical was penned by Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist and playwright Marsha Norman, whose dialogue and lyrics have been featured in musicals such as The Color Purple and The Red Shoes. Norman's words are complimented by the intricate and beautiful score written by well-known composer Lucy Simon. The Open Air Theatre cast of The Secret Garden includes several performers seen in productions over the past five seasons at the outdoor venue. Louis Palena plays Archibald Craven. Lauren Kriegel will be seen as Lily Craven. Lauren Brader plays Mrs. Medlock and Jennifer Fischer plays Rose. The cast is supported by a host of young performers from Lambertville's Downtown Performing Arts Center.

The Washington Crossing Open Air Theatre production of The Secret Garden will be performed on Friday, June 27, Saturday, June 28 and Sunday, June 29 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children (ages 12 and under). Tickets can always be purchased at the Open Air Theatre Box Office prior to the performance. Group discounts are available.
