Taking NYC by storm, the sweet 16th annual Downtown Urban Arts Festival (DUAF) opened with a bang with WE MCDONALD at Joe's Pub at the Public Theater followed by sold-out showings of 'The Vast Mystery Of Who You Are: Part One' by Kim Yaged and 'Gay.Porn.Mafia' by Joe Gulla. This week, the festival moves to THEATRE 80 ST. MARKS, 80 ST MARKS PLACE, NEW YORK CITY with an array of new and exciting works written by cutting-edge authors including Anghus Houvouras, J.E. Robinson, Rollin Jewett, and Daniel Damiano.

At a time when our nation is wrestling with tough questions about immigration, Houston Grand Opera is bringing back its bilingual production of Cruzar la Cara de la Luna / To Cross the Face of the Moon, a moving story that chronicles the joys and struggles of three generations of a family divided between countries and cultures through the rich melodies of mariachi. HGO presents three special performances on May 17, 19, and 20 in the HGO Resilience Theater at the George R. Brown Convention Center. Composed by Jose 'Pepe' Martinez with libretto by Leonard Foglia and known as the world's first mariachi opera, Cruzar has been performed to audiences around the world, including in New York City in January 2018. HGO's production will feature the Grammy Award-winning Mariachi Los Camperos. Tickets for these productions at the HGO Resilience Theater in the George R. Brown Convention Center are available at HGO.org. Parking is available at the Avenida North Garage located at 1815 Rusk Street, across from Resilience Theater. Twenty-five years after federal agents raided an armed religious compound outside of Waco, Texas that was led by self-proclaimed messiah David Koresh, a new documentary tells the inside story of the sect and the bloody battle that resulted in one of the longest standoffs in American history. Featuring previously unseen archival footage and using only firsthand accounts by survivors and those directly involved in the tragedy, WACO: THE LONGEST SIEGE looks at unexplored facets of the Waco story, the Branch Davidians and their charismatic leader, and the uneasy relationship between the media and national law enforcement agencies, which further complicated the deadly series of events that claimed 75 lives, including 25 children. WACO: THE LONGEST SIEGE premieres Monday, April 9 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Smithsonian Channel.

Watford Palace Theatre presents Arthur Miller's play Broken Glass, which opens 80 years after the events of Kristallnacht, leading up to the Second World War. Richard Beecham directs Charlotte Emerson (Sylvia Gellburg), Clara Francis (Harriet), Andrew Hall (Stanton Case) Michael Higgs (Dr Harry Hyman), Rebecca Lacey (Margaret Hyman) and Michael Matus (Philip Gellburg). Broken Glass opens at Watford Palace Theatre on 6 March, with previews from 1 March and runs until 24 March.
