Onstage November 1-18 at Playhouse Mainstage, Flat Rock Playhouse presents Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, one of Tennessee Williams's best-known works and his personal favorite. Cat on a Hot Tin Roof first heated up Broadway in 1955 with its gothic American story of brothers vying for their dying father's inheritance. The play won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama that same year and has since been seen regularly on stages across the country. Set in the steamy Mississippi Delta,Cat on a Hot Tin Roof takes us deep into Tennessee Williams country, geographically and psychologically. Directed by Tony Award winning director Marcia Milgrom Dodge (Broadway Revival of Ragtime) and starring Barbara Bradshaw (Big Mama), J. Kenneth Campbell (Big Daddy), Preston Dyar Gooper/Brother Man), Robert Eli (Brick), Michael MacCauley (Doc Baugh), Erin Maguire (Mae/Sister Woman), Scott Treadway (Reverend Tooker) and Adria Vitlar (Margaret); Cat on a Hot Tin Roof swelters with the fire of longing for that illusive shade of happiness. The award-winning York Theatre Company presents the musical, JESUS' KID BROTHER, May 25th at 3 p.m. The musical is part of the York Theatre Company's Development Reading Series which announced the cast for two other new musicals: THE AGE OF INNOCENCE with a reading on May 27th and LA LLARONA with a reading on June 2nd. The production opens in New York on April 7, 2010. Stops in San Antonio, Kansas City, Pittsburgh, and San Diego had been scheduled through early June thereafter, but will be cancelled, accordingly.
New York City is seeing spots as The 101 Dalmatians Musical comes to The Theater at Madison Square Garden April 7 - April 18, 2010, presented by Purina Dog Chow. To celebrate their arrival to New York City, the stars of the show and five live Dalmatians arrived in true NYC style aboard an FDNY fire truck lead by New York's bravest and also children from the Uniformed Firefighters Association Widows and Children's Fund, part of the Garden of Dreams Foundation. Yesterday, April 6, BroadwayWorld was on hand to partake in the welcome.
The New York Post recently took a look behind the scenes of the current tour of 101 DALMATIANS, specifically looking at the difficulties of having a cast of 15 dogs. According to the report, the dogs have received their own tour bus and enjoy more luxuries than many of the cast members.
