Erin Johnson, Interim Artistic Director of Velocity Dance Center has been selected to attend the distinguished National Dance Presenters' Forum at Jacob's Pillow. This four-day dance leadership development intensive is held at Jacob's Pillow's 220-acre site in Western Massachusetts, July 10-13. The second annual Forum, reinstated in July 2018, is developed in collaboration with key partners from across the U.S. and designed to be a catalytic opportunity for early career dance presenters. Erin was selected through a critical and rigorous interview process to join a cohort of 15 early-career dance presenters from around the U.S. Jacob's Pillow is a National Historic Landmark, recipient of the National Medal of Arts, and home to America's longest-running dance festival.

On Thursday, January 3, the lyrics of NEXT TO NORMAL battered us. Our hearts broke for Dan and Natalie, watching his wife, her mother struggling with a terrible loss, with highest highs and lowest lows of mental illness and trying help as best they could, often getting caught in the crossfire.

A passion project for the cast, directed by Devan Kelty and musically directed by Joseph Scarbrough, 'Next to Normal' centers on a mother who struggles with mental illness and the impact on her family. Featuring a live band of 5 musicians and running January 3-11, 'Next to Normal' showcases a small cast of seven: Bethany S. Moore as Diana, Erin Johnson as Diana, Gabriel Flores as Dan, Rachel Rodriguez as Natalie, Devan Kelty as Gabe, Zach Finley as Henry and Nic Harrington as Dr. Madden/Dr. Fine.

With a personal motto of 'don't suck,' Tampa native Gabriel Flores wears many hats ¬¬¬¬- special education high school teacher, husband, new daddy to a baby daughter, and playwright. While his wife and daughter sleep until early morning, Gabriel sits at his computer with his notepad and composes. His recent co-creation earned a spot in Tampa International Fringe Festival and will have a production at the Tampa Bay Theatre Festival this Labor Day Weekend.

Downtown Clarksville's 10th Annual 'Frolic on Franklin: A Celebration of the Arts' will take place today, September 19th from 8:30am to 3:30pm.
