CALL IT IN THE AIR, A New Musical, Comes to Feinstein's/54 Below

Call it in the Air, A New Musical, comes to Feinstein's/54 Below on March 21, 2019 at 9:30pm. This exciting new musical, written by Gabriel Flores and Taryn Alexander, takes you on a journey of life, chance, friendship, and moving on.

The musical follows the story of Owen who when returning to his small hometown after failing miserable in the big city learns that the life he left behind isn't exactly what he planned. After picking up his rock music career once again, he starts to find semblance of his old life. After letting go of the past and moving on with his new girlfriend Morgan, Owen's past returns with new life that turns everything, and and everyone, upside down.

Call it in the Air had its premier at the New York Theater Festival at the Hudson Guild Theatre in Chelsea in 2017. The show also had a showcase production at the Duke Theatre as part of the New York New Works Theatre Festival also in 2017. Since then, the show has enjoy two Florida productions and was recently nominated for four BroadwayWorld Regional awards including Best Musical, Best Actress, Best Director, and Best Choreographer. The show will be presented in concert format with some dialogue from the show. The cast includes up-and-coming actors Zach Finley, Hannah Hockman, Rachel Rodriguez, Bethany S. Moore, Erin Johnson, Devan Kelty, Brittany Clark, and Nic Harrington.The live music will be provided by playwright/composer Gabriel Flores on piano and a small band.

Call it in the Air, A New Musical plays Feinstein's/54 Below (254 West 54th Street) on March 21, 2019. There is a $25-35 cover charge and $25 food and beverage minimum. Gabriel Flores is Tampa, FL based writer, director, and occasional actor who has diligently been working on this musical for many years. Gabriel has written many plays that have ranged from staged productions in New York to one-off table reads and everything in between. Combining every love of his life, writing music to tell a story in stage for an audience is a dream come true. He is very active in local theatre scene in Florida as an actor, director, writer, board member, and producer. Off the stage, Gabriel is a special education teacher in Florida with plans of becoming an assistant principal in the near future in the real world. He thanks his wife Trisha and daughter Penelope for their support and understanding in making his dreams become reality.

Taryn Alexander is a playwright, poet and editor. She participated as a playwright in Tampa's 4x6 Fest in 2017, taking home an award for best use of dialog from the writing prompt. Last year, she was able to participate in the Tampa Theater Festival as a story editor for an original play. She is excited to take Call it in the Air to New York with the Florida based crew. Taryn is thankful for her supportive husband, who always encourages her to embark on creative adventures.
