English National Ballet's incoming Artistic Director Aaron S. Watkin has said that he wants to move away from the stereotypical image of very thin ballet dancers.

The Joan W. and Irving B. Harris Theater for Music and Dance has announced its 20th anniversary season, bringing pioneering artists from around the globe to Chicago and continuing to champion the world-class ensembles and arts organizations that call the city home.

Following the success of McNicol Ballet Collective's debut programme in 2021 the innovative dance company returns this summer with Devotions, a triple bill of virtuosic dance work choreographed by Andrew McNicol. Devotions tours to the Royal Opera House's Linbury Theatre (10 June) as part of the Next Generation Festival, The Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre, Leeds (17 June) and Hull New Theatre (23 & 24 June).

The Joffrey Academy of Dance, Official School of The Joffrey Ballet, presents four world premieres in the culmination of Joffrey's national call for ALAANA (African, Latinx, Asian, Arab and Native American) artists to submit applications for the Joffrey Academy's Winning Works Choreographic Competition.

Boston Ballet Artistic Director Mikko Nissinen announces the retirement of Principal Dancer Paulo Arrais from the Company and his appointment to Boston Ballet School's Professional Division at Walnut Hill as Full Time Faculty. Arrais joined Boston Ballet as an artist of the Company in 2010, was promoted to soloist in 2011, and to principal dancer in 2012.  

Following a sell-out rural tour in 2022, SWIM, the solo show about community, grief and the outdoors returns to UK regional theatres.

Ballet Hispánico, the nation's largest Latinx cultural organization and one of America's Cultural Treasures, returns to New York City Center after its critically and publicly acclaimed run of Doña Perón. From June 1-3, 2023, Ballet Hispánico will present a mixed bill curated by Artistic Director & CEO Eduardo Vilaro featuring repertory favorites, two new commissions and an exciting new addition to the repertory.

Hubbard Street Dance Chicago (HSDC) will present the second programs of its 45th anniversary season: Elements, featuring several World and Company Premieres and acclaimed revivals. The 2022/23 Season 45: Sapphire Season continues with HSDC's Spring Series at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago (220 E. Chicago Ave.) which will run March 23–April 2 with two mixed repertory performances, each performed four times. 

On February 11, 2023 at 3:45pm, Samantha Shay's short film Mother Melancholia will screen as part of the 51st edition of the Dance on Camera Festival at Film at Lincoln Center's Francesca Beale Theater.

After a long, hard run of Nutcracker, both London’s premier ballet companies are providing somewhat of a Tchiakovsky exhibition with English National Ballet offering Swan Lake and now the Royal Ballet giving one of their signature works, The Sleeping Beauty, an extended run until June.

After the occasionally muddy narrative in their tired Nutcracker, this is a Swan Lake with clear, emotional storytelling and magical choreography.

International Guest Artists Vadim Muntagirov, Principal of The Royal Ballet, and Tatiana Melnik, Principal of the Hungarian National Ballet, will perform in Cape Town City Ballet's spectacular production of Veronica Paeper's CINDERELLA for three performances only, accompanied by Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra (CPO).

Rubicon Theatre Company will present the Southern California premiere of THE REALISTIC JONESES, Wednesday, January 25 at 7:00 pm, with a press opening on Saturday, January 28 at 7:00 pm, running through Sunday, February 12.

From some well-deserved transfers from the Theatre Royal Bath and Chichester Festival Theatre, to the UK premiere of George Takei's musical and the unknown story of Charlie  Chaplin and  Stan Laurel there are some true theatrical treats in store in January.

Birmingham Royal Ballet has announced that Polina Semionova, Resident Guest Principal Artist with the Berlin State Ballet and former Principal Artist with The American Ballet Theatre in New York, will guest perform the iconic dual lead role of Odette and Odile in the world's best-loved ballet, Swan Lake, with BRB next year.
