Classic Theatre Project Announces Cast of THE CHERRY ORCHARD

The Classics Theatre Project's Artistic Director Joey Folsom today announced casting and creative team details for the Company's inaugural production, in a new adaptation by Ben Schroth of Anton Chekov's The Cherry Orchard. The Cherry Orchard, directed by Joey Folsom, will run June 21 - July 14, 2018 in the Kim Dawson Theatre at the The Trinity River Arts Center.

The ensemble cast features Emily Scott Banks as Lyubov, Stan Graner as Gaev, Matthew Eitzen as Yepikodov, Francis Fuselier at Firs, Sterling Gafford as Trofimov, Taylor Harris as Lopakin, Gretchen Hahn as Barbara, Courtney Mentzel as Anna, James Hansen Prince as Pishtchik, Mary-Margaret Pyeatt as Charlotte, Rachel Reininger as Dunyasha, and Dean Wray as Yasha.

Reviewer Mark Lowry said of Uptown's presentation of Part One, Angels In America, Millenium Approaches with actress Emily Scott Banks as the Angel hovering above the bed of the ailing Prior, played by Garret Storms, that it "always feels like extended exposition for the second part, Perestroika". Uptown will present Part Two Angels in America, Perestroika as a special event to kick-off Gay History Month this fall. Angels in America received a record 11 nominations at the 72nd annual Tony Awards this month, winning three awards, including Best Revival of a Play.

New Play Readings Festival Announced at Stage West

Stage West is pleased to present the 11th Annual New Play Readings Festival on Sunday, April 22, at Stage West, 821 W. Vickery in Fort Worth.  Featured will be Dust, by Nicole Oglesby, the winner of the 11th Southwest Playwriting Competition; in addition, the Festival will feature readings of new works by Mat Smart (who wrote our 38th Season closer, The Royal Society of Antarctica) and Janielle Kastner, who just appeared as Karla in A Funny Thing Happened….  

STAGE KISS is the 4th Show In Circle Theatre's 2018 Season

Circle Theatre announces the fourth show of their 2018 Season: Sarah Ruhl's, Stage Kiss. As previously announced, Circle's original fourth show (Out of the Mouth of Babes, by Israel Horovitz), was dropped after multiple, sexual misconduct allegations against the playwright. Executive Director, Tim Long, says, "We could not in good conscience produce his play. We are saddened by this development, but encouraged by the stories of these brave women." Stage Kiss will run from August 16 through September 15, 2018.

In 2013, Fun House Theatre and Film forever changed the landscape of children's theatre in DFW with an original play that defied convention, expectation and possibility, Bren Rapp and Jeff Swearingen's DAFFODIL GIRLS. The production became the talk of the industry, media outlets locally and nationally and after selling out its original run had to be brought back for a second round, with a cast of young actresses ages 6-15 becoming the envy of the adult set of artists who continued to pack a small black box theatre in Plano to experience what became a phenomenon.

WaterTower Theatre Appoints Nine New Board Members and a Slate of New Executive Officers

WaterTower Theatre has announced the election of nine new Board Members, as well as a new slate of Officers. The Board voted unanimously to install the following Executive Committee Officers: President Paul Shultz, Vice President Stan Graner, Vice President Grace Daniels, Treasurer Philip Longacre, and Secretary Karol Omlor.

WaterTower Theatre Artistic Director Joanie Schultz today announced casting and creative team details for the Regional Premiere of Karen Zacarias' Native Gardens, directed by David Lozano. Native Gardens will run June 2-25, 2017, in the Canterbury Family Main Stage at the Addison Theatre Centre. The cast features Stephanie Cleghorn Jasso as Tania Del Valle, Ivan Jasso as Pablo Del Valle, Lois Sonnier Hart as Virginia Butley, and John S. Davies as Frank Butley.

WaterTower Theatre Announces 2017-18 Season

Joanie Schultz, Artistic Director, today announced details of the Company's 2017-2018 Season. This season marks the first for newly appointed Artistic Director Joanie Schultz, and the 22nd for WaterTower Theatre.
