A Musical Theater Blind Date: An evening of original music created by artists of all races, genders, and sexual orientations benefitting the Musical Theatre Factory.

PTP/NYC (Potomac Theatre Project) has announced the cancellation of their 2020 Off-Broadway summer season at The Atlantic Stage 2 (330 West 16th Street) in New York City. Their 34th season was scheduled to run July 7 - August 2, 2020.

The Mac-Haydn Theatre presents Howard Ashman and Alan Menken's sci-fi hit Little Shop of Horrors, running August 8 through 18.

Directed by Richard Romagnoli and presented by PTP/NYC for a run at Atlantic Stage 2, 'Havel: the Passion of Thought' has been delighting audiences since its July 9th start; it really is quite the addition to the group's thirty-third season. In a time when artists were silenced in Czechoslovakia because of their efforts to bring attention to human suffering and value. They were arrested, their free speech squandered and rights evoked in the very fashion against which they protested. The ingenious idea to place Havel's 'Vanek Plays' in the center of Pinter's 'The New World Order' and Beckett's 'Catastrophe' does wonders to portray a political agenda that becomes more pronounced as humor gives way to the true nature of the matter at hand.

Critics J. The Pussycat Foundation, established in the spirit of Cosmopolitan Magazine editor Helen Gurley Brown, has awarded Northern Stage's Producing Artistic Director Carol Dunne a Genius Grant of $250,000 for her achievements in theater arts, recognizing her as a pioneering artist and artistic director. The Pussycat Foundation awards Genius Grants to individuals who dedicate their lives to transformative work with bold leadership and vision. The dollars awarded to Carol are split evenly between Northern Stage and the New London Barn Playhouse, which Carol led from 2008-2014.

The Mac-Haydn Theatre (MHT), continues its 2017 season with the Stephen Sondheim Tony Award winning musical thriller, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. This will be the third MHT premiere of the season.

One of the biggest thrills I get as a theatre reviewer is to experience a show that I love in a new light, and to discover things about it that I never noticed before, no matter how many times I may have seen it. This was my experience viewing the first production in Playhouse on Park's eighth season, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman.
