Commonwealth Shakespeare Company (CSC) is pleased to announce thecasting for the company's 15 th annual free Shakespeare on the Common production, WilliamShakespeare's immortal drama, Othello, directed by CSC Founding Artistic Director Steven Maler. Rattlestick Playwrights Theater today announced its roster of plays for 2010-2011, the award-winning company's 16th season. The all world-premiere season will feature provocative new works from Adam Rapp, Heidi Schreck and Florencia Lozano, the first full-length play from award-winning filmmaker Dan Klores, and the debut theatrical outing from the acclaimed singer/songwriter Suzanne Vega.

The StageSource Board of Directors has named long-time Huntington Theatre Company Managing Director Michael Maso as the recipient of the 2010 StageSource Theatre Hero Award. The Theatre Hero Award is being presented to Maso for his service, inspiration and role as a champion to Boston area theatres and the arts. The Elliot Norton Awards will take place at the Paramont Theatre on May 17.

Today, April 29, The Hartt School of the University of Hartford in Connecticut announced that Tony Award Nominee, Marin Ireland is the recipient of the 2010 Hartt Alumni Award. The award will be conferred on Ms. Ireland, who received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from The Hartt School in 2000, during Commencement ceremonies on Sunday, May 16, 2010.

American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) presents the world premiere of the musical Johnny Baseball by Richard Dresser, Robert Reale, and Willy Reale, directed by Diane Paulus. The production begins performances on May 16 and runs through June 27, 2010 at the Loeb Drama Center, 64 Brattle Street, Harvard Square, Cambridge.

From May 14 through 16, Emerging America brings some of the country's most promising performers, writers, companies and directors to Boston for a weekend filled with energy, imagination, creativity and drama.
