On Monday, June 19, Broadway Method Academy, Fairfield County's premier musical theater training program, began rehearsal for their July production of the hit blockbuster musical, Legally Blonde. The LEXington Theatre Company presents its third summer production, combining "Today's Broadway Stars and Tomorrow's Broadway Hopefuls." Lexington's own Laura Bell Bundy (Tony-Nominee for Legally Blonde), will be on hand to co-direct the show (schedule permitting), alongside The LEX Artistic Director, Lyndy Franklin Smith (A Chorus Line, The Little Mermaid). The production will feature the Tony-nominated original Broadway choreography, by Jerry Mitchell, recreated and adapted by Brooke Engen, (Gypsy, Hairspray) and Tiffany Engen (Legally Blonde).

Comedian Ali Wong to Bring the Laughs to Park Theater 10/7

Actress, comedian and writer Ali Wong, one of today's boldest comedic voices, will perform Saturday, Oct. 7 at Park Theater at Monte Carlo Resort and Casino. The show is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. Tickets starting at $39.50 (including applicable service charges or fees) go on sale Friday, June 16 at 10 a.m. PST. An artist pre-sale will run from Wednesday, June 14 at 10 a.m. PST through Thursday, June 15 at 10 p.m. PST (passcode: COBRA). Tickets can be purchased online at ParkTheaterLV.com or Ticketmaster.com.

Before appearing in front of the entire world on MTV's 2008 LEGALLY BLONDE casting series, actress Autumn Hurlbert had been honing her stage skills since childhood. And, although she came up second in the televised competition (still receiving a contract in the Broadway production!), Autumn left the show certain of her drive to create art without the need for fame. Now, she is touring with the recent New York hit SOMETHING ROTTEN, and I caught up with her in Houston, where the show made a stop on their way to Dallas' Winspear Opera House.

Changing the World, One Wall at a Time, a documentary feature film on Education Is Not A Crime - one of the world's largest street art and human rights campaign, which raises awareness about education apartheid by Iran's government against tens of thousands of Baha'is in the country - premiered at various locations throughout Los Angeles on June 5,6 and 7. The film was produced by Iranian-Canadian journalist Maziar Bahari as part of the campaign.

It's a big weekend in Nashville, maybe the biggest ever, thanks to the perfect storm of events and celebrations all across the region. It's CMA Music Festival weekend, Bonnaroo is pulsating some miles down the road (taking most of the attendees through Music City on their way to Manchester) and the Nashville Predators take on a team from Pittsburgh in the Stanley Cup Final's sixth game on Sunday night at Bridgestone Arena.
