The first live standings have been announced for the 2022 BroadwayWorld St. Louis Awards! Nominations were reader-submitted and now our readers get to vote for their favorites.

KPOP officially celebrates its opening night on November 27, but the party came early last night at the Circle in the Square Theatre. BroadwayWorld was there to celebrate and you can check out photos from the starry red carpet arrivals here!

Singer/songwriter Eleri Ward will be joined by special guest Broadway stars Laura Benanti, Bobby Conte, Julia Murney, and Samantha Pauly to celebrate her new album Keep A Tender Distance from GHOSTLIGHT RECORDS at New York’s Sony Hall on Monday, December 19 at 8:00 PM.

Pasadena Playhouse Producing Artistic Director Danny Feldman announced the latest news for the theater’s upcoming six-month-long celebration of the works and impact of Stephen Sondheim January 26 through June 11, 2023. 

The World Premiere of Only Gold, a new musical with music and lyrics by platinum recording artist and BRIT Award winner Kate Nash ('GLOW') and a book by Tony Award® winner Andy Blankenbuehler (Hamilton) and Ted Malawer (Everything Beautiful Happens at Night) is now open at MCC Theater. Singer/songwriter Eleri Ward will celebrate her new album Keep A Tender Distance – the sublimely introspective folk guitar exploration of Stephen Sondheim’s singular musical theater canon – with a national concert tour. Ward will launch the tour with a show at New York’s Sony Hall on Monday, December 19, featuring special surprise musical guests.

The World Premiere of Only Gold, now in previews at MCC Theater, will open on Monday November 7 for a limited run through November 27, 2022. Only Gold is a new musical with music and lyrics by platinum recording artist Kate Nash and a book by Tony Award winner Andy Blankenbuehler and Ted Malawer at MCC Theater. See photos here!

n KEEP A TENDER DISTANCE, Ms. Ward has taken a large artistic leap forward from her previous collection of Sondheim. A PERFECT LITTLE DEATH was recorded in the middle of the pandemic in Ward’s home studio and contained 13 songs utilizing mostly just her solo voice and a guitar. The new album feels like an entirely more collaborative affair.  There are a plethora of instruments and lots of backup vocals (even though many of the voices are Ward herself.) Her technique has grown sharper, both as a vocalist and an instrumentalist, and her emotional range is deeper and more on target.

Several selections can be heard on Broadway in the revival of Into the Woods (“Stay with Me,” “Agony,” “I Know Things Now,” “No One Is Alone”), in addition to the recent remounting of Company (“Another Hundred People,” “Marry Me a Little”), and the upcoming high-profile return of Merrily We Roll Along (“Not a Day Goes By,” the title song).

The 92nd Street Y, New York School of Music has announced a new guest for their popular interview series, Cabaret Conversations, now in its third year. Led by award-winning cabaret historian and performer Michael Kirk Lane, the series was recently the recipient of the 2022 Manhattan Association of Cabaret Award for Best Virtual Presentation.

Now in its third year, CABARET CONVERSATIONS WITH MICHAEL KIRK LANE will welcome popular cabaret performer and director Robbie Rozelle, as previously announced Eleri Ward rotates to a later date.
