Arden Theatre Company kicks off its 2011/12 main stage season with the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning August: Osage County by Tracy Letts.

PlayPenn, Philadelphia's professional new play development organization, will hold its seventh annual New Play Development Conference on July 8-July 24 at the Adrienne Theater (2030 Sansom Street) in Philadelphia.

Arden Theatre Company proudly announces the seven productions, featuring three world premieres, that comprise its 2010/11 season

Arden Theatre Company is proud to announce its participation in New Visions/New Voices, a week-long festival to support and stimulate the creation of new plays and musicals for young audiences, hosted by The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. At the festival, the Arden will be further developing their commission of The Flea and the Professor, Jordan Harrison's new musical adaptation of the story by Hans Christian Andersen. Following a week of collaborative workshops, The Flea and the Professor will be featured in a series of public readings beginning May 21, 2010.

Arden Theatre Company announced Edward Sobel has been hired as Associate Artistic Director. Sobel previously was the Director of New Play Development at Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago, where he oversaw the development of more than 40 new plays including the Pulitzer and Tony Award-winning drama August: Osage County.

On October 19th at 7:30PM, a special reading will take at the James Christy Access Theater of James Christy's Put Them Away, starring Cady Huffman (Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Producers) and Paul O'Brien (Equus) and directed by Hal Brooks (Obie-winning No Child).

The trustees of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation have awarded Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre Company a three-year, $600,000 grant as part of a new initiative to expand the commissioning for the development of new plays for the American stage - while providing audiences greater transparency into the artistic process.
