Musicals Tonight! the Obie-winning company dedicated to the revival of neglected musicals kicks off its 2013-14 season with a 16-performance run of Cole Porter's Mexican Hayride (October 8 - 20) directed by Thomas Sabella-Mills, with music direction by James Stenborg.

Perry Beekman sings and plays Cole Porter today, October 4th at 9:30 pm at The Metropolitan Room.

The cast features Jessica Wagner, M.X. Soto, Amie Bermowitz, Casey Hebbel, Ryan Hilliard, Tara Lynne Khaler, David Marmanillo, Benjamin Perez, Natalie Ramirez, Kelly Ross, April Woodall, Michael J. Strawdog Theatre Company's 2013 - 2014 season opens with Conversations on a Homecoming by Tom Murphy, now through September 28, directed by Jonathan Berry, 3829 N. Broadway Street. Preview performance tickets are $15 with performances continuing Aug. 23 and 25. There is a Board Preview performance, Saturday, Aug. 24 at 7 p.m., with $50 tickets that include access to a post-performance reception. For his first CD as a leader, Perry has selected one of the most beloved and prolific of these composers, Cole Porter, for SO IN LOVE - PERRY BEEKMAN SINGS AND PLAYS COLE PORTER. Accompanied by the remarkably empathetic paring of Peter Tomlinson and Lou Pappas on piano and bass respectively, Perry has selected 15 wonderful Porter songs, all but one culled from Broadway musicals made immortal by Porter's genius.

From the time of his Jazz Epiphany - upon hearing "jazz guitar pioneer Charlie Christian, and the classic recordings of Billie Holiday and Lester Young" - at the age of 15, outstanding guitarist/vocalist Perry Beekman has committed himself to the classic traditions of jazz, particularly by means of the Great American Songbook.
