The Castillo Theatre and the non-profit All Stars Project (ASP), announce this week that the New Federal Theatre (NFT), founded by Woodie King, Jr., will now make its home at the All Stars performing arts and development center at 543 West 42nd Street.
The celebrated Newman & Oltman Guitar Duo will perform at the 16th New York Guitar Seminar at Mannes on Sunday, July 10. Brazilian composer and guitarist Sergio Assad and his daughter, pianist and vocalist Clarice Assad will join the Duo in works by the Assads, Milton Nascimento, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Celso Machado, Alfonso Montes & Irina Kircher, Carlos Lyra, and Gilberto Gil. The concert will be held at 7:30pm at Tishman Auditorium at University Center, 63 Fifth Ave., corner of 13th St. Michael Newman and Laura Oltman are the founders and artistic directors of the seminar (www.mannesguitar.com) which takes place July 6 - July 11, 2016. The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced Fasten Your Seatbelts (Part 2): 20th Century Fox (today, August 9-15), a summertime big screen showcase of some of the movie studio's most beloved and unforgettable films. Presented via DCP restorations and beautiful studio library 35mm prints, with a focus on a single artist and their creative contribution to each film, Fasten Your Seatbelts is sure to be a truly rare movie-going event. In the summer of 2010, FSLC presented the first Fasten Your Seatbelts series to coincide with and celebrate 20th Century Fox's 75th Anniversary. The popularity of that series, including screenings of classics like ALL ABOUT EVE, M*A*S*H and ALIEN all but demanded that Film Society and the studio present a 'sequel' at some point.
As BroadwayWorld previously reported, 20th Century Fox recently formed a joint venture with top Broadway producer and Tony Award winner Kevin McCollum (Motown, Rent, Avenue Q, In the Heights), prolific film producer John Davis (Predator, The Firm, Grumpy Old Men, I Robot, Chronicle) and leading industry executive Tom McGrath, to develop live stage productions based upon the studio's vast library of films.
