Richmond Triangle Players concludes its 25th Anniversary Season with one of the most acclaimed musicals of the 20th century, A Chorus Line. This landmark work, with a cast comprised of performers from up and down the East Coast, opens Friday, June 8, 2018 at 8 pm, following a two low-priced previews on Wednesday and Thursday June 6 and 7 at 8 pm.

Rabbit Hole is a family drama that charts a grieving family through a empathic search for comfort in the darkest of places and a path that will lead them back into the light of day. Becca and Howie Corbett have everything a family could want, until a life-shattering accident turns their world upside down and leaves the couple drifting perilously apart. The entire family finds themselves lost as they attempt to recovery from the loss of their son. The Corbett's have become strangers in their own home; inhabiting isolated space.

Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) presents the second workshop in the series How to Wrote a Musical That Works, Conflict & Obstacles, onSunday, February 25, 2018 from 10am - 6pm at NOLA Rehearsal Studio, 244 W 54th St., 5th floor, Studio 5. Submission fee is $10 for members, $20 for non-members. If accepted, it will be applied to a participation fee of $100 ($80 for TRU members). Those not selected will be invited and encouraged to attend the workshop as observers. The price is $55 ($35 for TRU members). The Kleban Foundation just announced the recipients of the 28th Annual Kleban Prize for Musical Theatre. Adjudication in the 2018 Kleban Prize for the most promising musical theatre lyricist category resulted in a tiebetween Alan Schmuckler and Amanda Yesnowitz, andthe 2018 Kleban Prize for the most promising musical theatre librettist has been awarded to Christian Duhamel. The 2018 prizes will be presented on Monday, February 5, 2018, in a private ceremony (by invitation only) hosted by ASCAP and BMI at ASCAP.

Avenue Q will now run the 5th anniversary of its award winning production through January 21, 2018 (extended by two weeks) at New ConservatoryTheatre Center. Stephen Sondheim was in the audience at Barrington Stage Company's production of COMPANY the night before, but last night it was all about Joe Iconis and family appearing on the dark Mainstage for a one night concert as COMPANY rested for the evening. Mr. Sondheim was highly enthusiastic for the Julianne Boyd directed COMPANY and spent time with Aaron Tveit and the cast after the show. It was an historic evening for the BSC community as Stephen Sondheim was generous with his praise for all involved with the production, which is the talk of the Berkshires this season.

With an array of musical influences including musical storytellers like Billy Joel and Tom Waits, French classical composers and gospel music, Daniel Zaitchik's sound was bound to be unique. This recent Ed Kleban award winner brings his new musical DARLING GRENADINE to the Goodspeed's Terris Theatre beginning August 18. The musical, which centers on a jingle composer, Harry, his girlfriend, Louise and their life in Manhattan tells its story with a contemporary but classic MGM musical feel. I had the chance to sit down with Daniel and talk about his inspiration for the show, the creative path it has taken (including a recent workshop at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center), and his own creative process.
