The Hartt School Guitar Department presents the 2012 Hartt School Guitar Festival from Monday, July 23, through Friday, July 27. International concert artist and pedagogue Scott Tennant joins Guitar Department founder/chair Richard Provost and faculty member Christopher Ladd for this week-long festival of concerts and daily master classes. This event is open to classical guitarists of all levels and aspirations who wish to improve and refine their playing and performance skills by studying with professional classical guitar performers and teachers. The Hartt School Community Division (HCD) presents a performance by the Fry Street Quartet on August 7, at 6:00 PM, in Millard Auditorium at the University of Hartford, 200 Bloomfield Avenue, West Hartford, CT. Hartford Stage Artistic Director Darko Tresnjak today promoted Resident Director Maxwell Williams, an artistic presence at the Tony Award-winning theatre for more than a decade, to the post of Associate Artistic Director.
The official opening night for Polly Draper in MY BRILLIANT DIVORCE, took place last Saturday night at Bay Street Theatre. Geraldine Aron, the playwright for this American Premiere attended the after party in the lobby along with other theatre veterans including Blythe Danner, TEd Hartley and Dina Merrill, John McDaniel, Terrence McNally, Joe Pintauro, Mercedes Ruehl, Sloan Shelton, and Harris Yulin. The show runs now through Sunday, June 24. The production is directed by Matt McGrath, one of Bay Street Theatre's Artistic Associates.

Tom Chambers and Summer Strallen take the lead roles of Jerry Travers and Dale Tremont in Top Hat which opened on Wednesday 9th May at the Aldwych Theatre in the West End where the show is currently booking until 26 January 2013. On Tuesday, May 1, The American Theatre Wing announced the nominees for the 2012 Tony Awards, and Hartt graduates are among the honorees. The American Theatre Wing's Tony Awards, named for the late Antoinette Perry - an actress, director, producer, and the dynamic wartime leader of the American Theatre Wing - got their start in 1947 when the Wing established an awards program to celebrate excellence in the theatre.
