The final chapter in the HMX Group Bankruptcy story has been revealed. Yesterday, Authentic Brands Group, LLC finalized the acquisition of the HMX Group, which includes the New York based Hickey Freeman and Illinois based Hart Schaffner Marx brands. Hickey Freeman and Hart Schaffner Marx have long been manufactured in the United States by Workers United members and have become synonymous with producing high quality, hand-tailored menswear.
The Hartt School Community Division (HCD) production of Tchaikovsky's timeless holiday classic The Nutcracker features a range of special guests in cameo roles through the course of its four-performance run. Special guests from the community joining the cast include Lieutenant Governor Nancy Wyman and Chad Williams, Director of Program Services of the Boys & Girls Club of Hartford. Closer to home, University President Walter Harrison; acclaimed Head Women's Basketball Coach Jennifer Rizzotti; and Miss Connecticut, Emily Audibert, also appear in cameo roles. Miss Audibert is a senior at the University of Hartford with a triple major in economics/finance, accounting, and entrepreneurial studies. She will represent Connecticut at the 2013 Miss America Pageant in Las Vegas in January. University of Hartford mascot Howie the Hawk, as well as Pucky the Whale, beloved mascot of Connecticut Whale, also make appearances.

Over 180,000 new tickets are released for public sale today (10 September 2012) as Top Hat at the Aldwych Theatre extends its booking period to 28 September 2013. Seventy seven years after its movie release, Matthew White's production arrived in the West End earlier this year having completed a 20 week sell-out UK tour. The Hartt School Community Division (HCD) announces Celesti Sondato's 4th season and a new music director, Bryan Zaros of Avon, Conn. An accomplished and award winning conductor, Mr. Zaros has conducted choirs in nine different countries and has performed at some of the most celebrated performance venues, including the Metropolitan Opera House, Avery Fisher Hall, Carnegie Hall, and on NBC's Today show. Celesti Sondato is the HCD Adult Chamber Choir, an auditioned SATB ensemble with a tradition of performing varied choral literature, premiering new works, and collaborating with local ensembles throughout the year.
The Hartt School Guitar Department presents the 2012 Hartt School Guitar Festival from today, July 23, through Friday, July 27. International concert artist and pedagogue Scott Tennant joins Guitar Department founder/chair Richard Provost and faculty member Christopher Ladd for this week-long festival of concerts and daily master classes.
