CHAPATTI Opens Peninsula Players 81st Season

?Peninsula Players Theatre, America's Oldest Professional Resident Summer Theatre and Door County's theatrical icon, opened its 81st season June 14 with the Wisconsin premiere of "Chapatti" by Christian O'Reilly.   Unexpected sparks fly when Betty, the caregiver to 19 cats, meets Dan and his dog Chapatti in a Dublin vet office.   This funny, gentle and poignant story centers around two lonely animal lovers who rediscover, very unexpectedly, the need for caring and companionship.   "Chapatti" will perform through July 3.

Encores! Artistic Director Jack Viertel today announced casting for the Encores! production of 1776, the classic Tony Award-winning musical about how the founding fathers drafted the Declaration of Independence and gave birth to a new nation. 1776 will star Terence Archie, John Behlmann, Larry Bull, Nikki Renee Daniels, Andre De Shields, Macintyre Dixon, Santino Fontana, Alexander Gemignani, John Hickok, John Hillner, John Larroquette, Kevin Ligon, John-Michael Lyles, Laird Mackintosh, Michael McCormick, Michael Medeiros, Christiane Noll, Bryce Pinkham, Wayne Pretlow, Tom Alan Robbins, Robert Sella, Ric Stoneback, Jubilant Sykes, Vishal Vaidya, Nicholas Ward, and Jacob Keith Watson.

Encores! Artistic Director Jack Viertel today announced the creative teams for New York City Center's 2016 Encores! season. J. Bernard Calloway, Chuck Cooper, Marva Hicks, Carly Hughes, LaChanze, Norm Lewis, Forrest McClendon, and J.D. Webster will star in Vernon Duke and John Latouche's jazz?filled fable Cabin in the Sky, running for seven performances at City Center from February 10-14. The 1940 musical will be directed by Tony Award winner Ruben Santiago?Hudson with choreography by Camille A. Brown.

Irish Rep to Open Season with American Premiere of THE QUARE LAND

The Irish Repertory Theatre announces the first production of its 28th theater season -- the American premiere of John McManus's THE QUARE LAND, directed by Ciaran O'Reilly.  Developed as part of the Irish Rep's Reading Series in 2014, THE QUARE LAND will be performed Tuesday, September 22 - Sunday, November 15, 2015 at the DR2 Theatre, located at 103 East 15th Street in Union Square (the Irish Rep's temporary home during renovation of its home base in Chelsea).  The Opening is scheduled for Thursday, October 1, 2015.

Glenne Headly Take on Role of 'Brenda Drexel' in FISH IN THE DARK Tonight

Acclaimed stage and film actress Glenne Headly will assume the role of Brenda Drexel opposite Jason Alexander as Norman Drexel, in Larry David's hit comedy about a death in the family, Fish In the Dark beginning tonight, June 9 at the Cort Theater (138 West 48th Street).
