A LITTLE NEW MUSIC Set for Rockwell: Table & Stage, 3/10

Keeping with their successful tradition of premiering new and unpublished material, A LITTLE NEW MUSIC returns to Rockwell: Table & Stage in Los Feliz with an exciting program featuring Broadway and local talent. Returning as hostess and chanteuse is the spicy Jordan Kai Burnett (SEUSSICAL), joined by music director Bryan Blaskie (VICTORIAN COURTING AND ZOMBIES) and band.

ROBIN BAXTER'S BEAUTY TIPS & CHAINSAW REPAIR SHOW Set for Metro Baptist Church, 2/8

She's baaaack! Broadway's Robin Baxter (Mamma Mia, Footloose) will present Robin Baxter's Bipolar Beauty Tips & Chainsaw Repair Show, her tumultuous journey on and off Broadway with bipolar illness, for one night only at Metro Baptist Church (410 West 40th Street - between 9th & 10th Avenues) on Sunday, February 8th at 7:00 p.m. Directed by Jay Rogers (When Pigs Fly, Whoop-Dee-Doo!)with Musical Direction by Doug Katsaros (Somewhere in Time, The Toxic Avenger) the evening will include a mix of cabaret, music, song - and power point, as Ms. Baxter literally and figuratively takes a chainsaw to the stigma of mental health. Tickets are free, although donations will be accepted at the door. There will be a live chainsaw present. This February, Drama Desk Award nominee Ryan Silverman (Side Show, Chicago) will lead the cast in workshop presentations of the new Broadway-bound musical Somewhere in Time, based on the novel by renowned author Richard Matheson (I Am Legend, What Dreams May Come) and the subsequent hit film starring Christopher Reeve, Jane Seymour and Christopher Plummer.

Main Street Musicals' Festival of New Musicals Set for Next Month

On Jan 10th and 11th, Mainstreet Musicals will launch its premiere festival season with the Philadelphia /Mainstreet Festival of New Musicals - presenting three new musicals in concert readings at Temple University's Randall Theatre, 1301 West Norris St. Philadelphia, PA 19122. Mainstreet Musicals is a New York-based organization whose mission is to encourage the development of new musicals by sharing some of the finest through annual regional festivals. Submissions are evaluated by a jury of professional theatre directors. Actor John Lithgow, serving as Mainstreet's 2014 Guest Artistic Director, made the final selection and commented, "I found the quality of these pieces to be extremely high, offering abundant evidence that wonderful work is out there waiting to be discovered."

A.J. Shively to Star in Abingdon's MERTON OF THE MOVIES Concert Reading; Full Cast Announced!

Abingdon Theatre Company presents a concert reading of MERTON OF THE MOVIES -- an uproarious new musical comedy set in the rollicking age of Keystone Cops, Harold Lloyd, Charlie Chaplin, and Buster Keaton -- with book by Donald Brenner, music and lyrics by Doug Katsaros, on Monday, December 8 at 7pm at the June Havoc Theatre (312 West 36th Street) in Manhattan. Donald Brenner, whose directorial credits include MARCH MADNESS and the upcoming MALLORCA at Abingdon, will direct.

It is a collection of rare performances of Nancy singing songs with lyrics by her dear friend, Tony Award winning and Academy Award nominated lyricist David Zippel.

CETM (The Centre for Education and Theatre in Montreal) presents the 7th annual Next Wave Festival of New Musicals, a unique showcase for new musicals in development from Montreal and around the globe. Montreal-based artists are featured, including emerging writers and composers, as well as international guest performers. The Next Wave Festival is a world-class collection of performances, educational presentations and special events for musical theatre lovers and practitioners, as well as newbies to this incomparable artistic discipline. This year's exciting line-up will be presented at Calixa-Lavallee (in Parc Lafontaine) and Lion d'Or (at the Lionceau Room) from today, September 25 to 28. Various presentations are offered in French, in English, or in both languages. Audiences are also invited to enjoy three free events during the Festival.
