Philadelphia Theatre Company, the city's premier producer of new American theatre, reaffirms its commitment to supporting new plays by American playwrights with its STAGES series, a new play reading series, beginning Monday, October 19 at 7PM at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre (Broad and Lombard Streets) during the run of its current production, Humor Abuse starring Lorenzo Pisoni.

The opening program will be a reading of Silverhill by Philadelphia playwright Thomas Gibbons, directed by Richard Corley, who has directed PTC's mainstage productions of Broken Glass by Arthur Miller, A Question of Mercy by David Rabe, The Woods by David Mamet, and Sight Unseen by Donald Margulies.

The New Jewish Theatre announces their 2009-2010 season. Called a 'Bat Mitzvah Season of Tradition', the list includes: CONVERSATIONS WITH MY FATHER (currently playing), BROOKLYN BOY, THE PEOPLE'S VIOLIN, ROMEO AND JULIET, and LAUGHTER ON THE 23RD FLOOR.

Producers Angelo Fraboni and Daryl Roth have announced that the New York premiere of Vigil, written by Morris Panych and directed by Stephen DiMenna, will begin performances Sunday, September 20, at 3pm at the DR2 Theatre, 103 East 15 Street, east of Union Square. Director Jacob Estes, who made a splash with his 2004 thriller 'Mean Creek,' has recruited as stellar cast for his new black comedy 'The Details.' According to Variety, James McAvoy, Laura Linney, Elizabeth Banks and Anna Friel have all signed on for the independently financed feature.

The Looking Glass Theatre proudly announces that it will present the world premiere of ASK SOMEONE ELSE, GOD, a surreal comedy about the prophet Jonah written by Kenneth Nowell and directed by Shari Johnson, as part of its exciting Fall 2009 lineup. Ask Someone Else, God is slated to open at The Looking Glass Theatre on Wednesday, September 9. Performances are scheduled every Wednesday through Saturday at 8 p.m. and every Sunday at 5 p.m. through October 4.
