Traveling Jewish Theatre (TJT) continues its 30th Anniversary Season with a production of The Floating Light Bulb running from Thursday, April 16 – Sunday, May 24. TJT's current production of The Model Apartment by Obie and Pulitzer Award-winning playwright Donald Margulies continues until Sunday, April 5, and The Floating Light Bulb marks the final production of their 2009 season.

Following critical praise for The Model Apartment, Traveling Jewish Theatre presents The Floating Light Bulb by Woody Allen. Bay Area theatre favorite Nancy Carlin directs Allen’s exploration of love and loneliness in a working-class Jewish family. Set in 1945 in the Canarsie neighborhood of Brooklyn, a teenage boy with a passion for magic tricks provides the light for his mother’s otherwise frustrated life. Her husband is a petty gambler and philanderer, and the coming visit of a talent scout to see her son perform holds a promise for a better future. The cast features Ben Freeman, John Murphy, Ellen Ratner, Andrew Hurteau, Jessica Kitchens and Rolf Saxon.

Nancy Carlin is well known to Bay Area theater audiences as she has directed productions for Aurora Theatre, Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival, Foothill Theatre Company, and B Street Theatre. As an actress, Carlin has appeared in numerous Cal Shakes productions as well as The Pillowman at Berkeley Rep. In the late 80's, she was featured in A.C.T.'s production of The Floating Light Bulb.

TJT’s 30th Anniversary home season will be presented exclusively at the company’s San Francisco venue, 470 Florida Street.
