Colors of Community to Celebrate Female Playwrights, Directors at Third Event

The November 11th series of Colors of the Community will discuss women's issues and female empowerment; racial relations; law enforcement and the community; and the black market of orphan rehoming. The featured plays were all written and directed by women. Ensuing discussion will feature an all-woman panel, moderated by a woman!

Trio of Off-Broadway Companies to Present THE EVERY 28 HOURS PLAYS

The New Group, Labyrinth Theater Company and Working Theater present selections from The Every 28 Hours Plays, a collection of one-minute plays centered on the current Civil Rights and BlackLivesMatter movements. Set for Monday, November 7, this one-night-only event includes staged readings at 6:00pm and 8:30pm, each followed by a discussion of the issues raised by the plays, and how art/activism can impact the local and national conversation around BlackLivesMatter.

Playwrights Foundation Announces the 11th Annual Rough Readings Series

Playwrights Foundation (PF) is pleased to announce the line-up of playwrights for the 2016-2017 Rough Readings Series in partnership with the National Center for New Plays at Stanford University, now in its 11th year. Beginning October 24th and 25th with workshop early draft  readings of ALL FALL DOWN by Lisa Ramirez (PF Resident Playwright), the series continues monthly December 2016 through May 2017 with seven exceptional new works that are pushing into new theatrical territory, challenging assumptions, and presenting deeply felt dilemmas within our culture and world society.

Photo Flash: Sneak Peek at EVERY 28 HOURS, Coming to St. Louis This Weekend

People in the St. Louis area have two opportunities to see the show. Center of Creative Arts (COCA, 524 Trinity Ave, St. Louis, MO 63130) will be hosting a performance on Saturday, October 15th at 8pm and The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis (130 Edgar Rd, Webster Groves, MO 63119) will be hosting a performance on Monday, October 24th at 8pm. All performances will be free of charge.

11th Annual Rough Readings Series Launches With ALL FALL DOWN by Lisa Ramirez

Playwrights Foundation and the National Center for New Plays at Stanford begin the 2016/17 Rough Reading Series on October 24 & 25 with early draft  readings of ALL FALL DOWN by Lisa Ramirez (PF Resident Playwright), on Monday, Monday, October 24 - 7:30 pm at Stanford and Tuesday, October 25 - 2:00 pm at Custom Made Theatre in San Francisco.

'48HOURS IN... HARLEM' to Celebrate First Anthology Launch at The Drama Book Shop

Six years after a group of virtual strangers assembled to form Harlem9 and present an annual event, '48HOURS IN... HARLEM' - a twist on the traditional 24-hour play festival -  Harlem9, will celebrate their first anthology with a discussion and readings of two of the 12 plays in their first anthology at The Drama Book Shop.
