Chicago Tap Theatre Presents SAVING THE WORLD

Artistic Director Mark Yonally and Chicago Tap Theatre (CTT) are proud to present Saving The World, a science fiction tap dance story show set to all-original music composed and performed live by Diana Lawrence, directed by Raphael Schwartzman, written by Slam Poetry Creator Marc Kelly Smith and choreographed by Yonally, June 8 - June 30, at Stage 773, 1225 W. TAP CITY, THE NYC TAP FESTIVAL Returns July 6-12

Tap dance workshops, performances and special events herald the return of the American Tap Dance Foundation's Tap City, the NYC Tap Festival, the week long tap dance festival celebrating its 19th year in tap's hometown, New York City. The 2019 festival week, Saturday, July 6 through Friday July 12, will feature Tap Treasures, a walking tour of the Broadway Theater District and Radio City Music Hall; Tap Ellington, a tribute to the jazz legend and his contribution to the art of tap dance; Rhythm in Motion, a boundary breaking take on tap by NYC's finest tappers & choreographers; the ATDF Tap Dance Awards and a Tap City cruise around Manhattan with a live band and tap jam performances. *Full lineup below.

Live Arts' Fresh Tracks Program Presents Five Emerging Choreographers

On December 7 and 8 at 7:30 PM, the legendary Fresh Tracks Performance and Residency Program at New York Live Arts will showcase the work of their five selected emerging choreographers: Emma Rose Brown, J. Bouey, Liana Conyers, Collin Ranf, and Dolores (Lola) Sanchez. As part of its annual programming, Fresh Tracks has been a 54-year commitment to bringing new voices to the forefront. The program offers a unique vantage point for the artists who are provided an unparalleled opportunity for professional development, experience, and recognition. Chicago Human Rhythm Project (CHRP), presents the 28th annual summer festival of American tap and percussive dance, Rhythm World, featuring three generations of foot drummers including tap masters Dianne 'Lady Di' Walker and Sam Weber, STOMP cast members, many of Chicago's finest including, Star Dixon and Martin 'Tre' Dumas, and CHRP's Artist in Residence, Dani Borak leading Stone Soup Rhythms. Intensive educational programs will be offered in the Fine Arts Building and the American Rhythm Center, July 16-22. Performances take place July16-18, at the Jazz Showcase, Curtis Hall and the Polk Bros Performance Lawns at Navy Pier, with culminating concerts, JUBA! Masters of Tap and Percussive Dance, on July 20 and 21, at the Studebaker Theater featuring a host of virtuoso soloists and ensembles showcasing a mix of audience favorites and world premieres.
