Shakespeare & Company is pleased to invite the Berkshire community to a blowout July Fourth Celebration. This lively and family-friendly day is a FREE event, open to the public. Attendance at past Fourth celebrations has included over 800 artists, celebrities, company members, and members of the Berkshire community. So break out the blankets, Frisbees and sunscreen, and enjoy a fun-filled day of music, song, a classic all American barbeque and an awe-inspiring reading of the Declaration of Independence.
Shakespeare & Company's Midsummer Night's Celebration will be held Today, June 28th. Artistic Director Tony Simotes and Co-Chairs Phoebe Giddon and Deborah Ryan will present a magical and unforgettable evening celebrating the 450thbirthday of William Shakespeare and the start of Shakespeare & Company's Summer Season. Guests of Honor Governor Deval Patrick and First Lady Diane B. Patrick will be in attendance, as well as Rick Dildine, Shakespeare & Company's newly appointed Executive Director in his first public appearance. The evening will also feature the opening night performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream, directed by Simotes and set in the mysterious bayous of New Orleans during the height of the Jazz Age. Proceeds from the Midsummer Night's Celebration will benefit Shakespeare & Company's nationally recognized Education and Training programs.
A newly announced grant of $290,000 from the State of Massachusetts Cultural Facilities Fund (CFF) will support Shakespeare & Company's long term goal of creating an integrated 'green' campus and moves it one step closer to restoring and renovating its 33-acre property. The grant is part of a new round of Massachusetts Cultural Facilities Fund grants -- totaling close to $14 million -- which are set to boost the state's creative sector by supporting new building projects for nonprofit arts and cultural organizations, schools, and communities across Massachusetts.

The Handel and Haydn Society (H+H) and Artistic Director Harry Christophers have announced H+H's 2014-2015 Season-its 200th-featuring the Period Instrument Orchestra and Chorus performing works from the Baroque and Classical eras. Highlights include a collection of some of the greatest oratorios ever written, stellar guest artists, and two brilliant showcases for H+H Concertmaster Aisslinn Nosky. The season opens with a concert that commemorates H+H's first public program at Boston's King's Chapel on December 25, 1815.
