Prop Thtr to Stage Naomi Wallace's SLAUGHTER CITY, 6/9-7/14

Slaughter City runs from Sunday, June 9 through Sunday, July 14 on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 3pm. Previews are June 7 and 8 and there are no performances on July 4 and July 11. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at the door, by calling Prop Thtr at 773-539-7838 or visiting www.propthtr.org. *NOTE: Members of unions receive $5 off tickets at the door with union cards.

Babes With Blades Theatre Company Announces Special Events

Babes With Blades Theatre Company (BWBTC), Chicago's all-female stage combat ensemble, will launch a series of special events and deals to coincide with their spring production of "Trash," starting with "War and Piece," a showing of artwork by Victoria Szilagyi. The exhibit will include Szilagyi's painting "Erinyes," the winner of the 2010 Inspiring Sword & Pen Art Competition.

Babes With Blades closes its 2008-2009, 11th anniversary season with an all-female production ofWilliam Shakespeare's 'Macbeth,' directed by Next Theatre's Kevin Heckman. Enter a Scotland wracked by treachery and possessed by supernatural forces - a kingdom where loyalty is fatal, ambition is madness, and no motivation is pure. This production features mask work and broadsword-driven stage combat. The cast will be joined by youth actresses from The Viola Project, a Chicago organization offering Shakespeare performance workshops for girls 8-18 (violaproject.com).
