Four talented emerging playwrights of color - members of the 2016 INKtank Playwrights Lab - will unveil their exciting new works when Rising Circle Theater Collective presents its 7th annual PlayRISE Festival, a series of staged readings featuring some of New York City's most exciting theatre artists of color. The festival will run from June 16-19 at The Sheen Center (18 Bleecker Street in Manhattan).

SPACE on Ryder Farm, the non-profit artist residency program located on Ryder Farm, an idyllic 200 year-old working organic farm in Brewster, New York announces its 2016 season for The Working Farm, Family Residency, Creative Solutions Symposium and Artistic Residency programs. 2016 residents include playwrights Adam Bock, Cusi Cram, Daisy Foote, Adam Rapp, J.T. Rogers, Sarah Ruhl, recipients of the inaugural Relentless Award--Clare Barron and Sarah DeLappe--indie folk band Jamestown Revival, Pig Iron Theatre Company, SoHo Rep, and actor and playwright Hamish Linklater.

The 2016 Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Achievement Off-Broadway were handed out last night to recipients in 18 categories, with two special awards and two honorary awards also bestowed. The Lortel Awards were distributed in a ceremony at NYU Skirball Center hosted by Zachary Levi, star of Broadway's She Loves Me. This year's event was once again a benefit for The Actors Fund. Primary Stages Einhorn School of Performing Arts has announced casting for its ESPA Drills Reading Series this August. ESPA Drills is an annual new play development program providing staged readings to four playwrights.
