The Los Angeles LGBT Center has announced a special one-night-only return of the internationally acclaimed singing string quartet Well-Strung. The four performers, who specialize in pairing classical compositions by Mozart, Bach, and Aaron Copland with pop hits by Green Day, Adele, and Taylor Swift, will perform at the Renberg Theatre for one show only on Friday, January 13, 2017 at 8pm.

Composer Lisa Bielawa's Vireo: The Spiritual Biography of a Witch's Accuser will feature world-renowned opera star Deborah Voigt singing a role created for her in Vireo's Episode Eleven, "Circus," to be shot on January 20, 2017 at the 16th Street Oakland Train Station in Oakland, California. 

Tony Award winner and Metropolitan Opera baritone Paulo Szot will join Music Director Alan Gilbert, mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato, and the New York Philharmonic for the Orchestra's New Year's Eve celebration, Saturday, December 31, 2016, at 8:00 p.m., an evening of American classics including music by Rodgers & Hammerstein, Lerner & Loewe, and Copland.

In the past year, Well-Strung have performed for the likes of President Barack Obama, Secretary Hillary Clinton, and at the Vatican, as well as alongside stars such as Kristin Chenoweth and Joe Jonas.

Well-Strung, the Singing String Quartet will be the special guests for New York City Gay Men's Chorus' "Xmas and Chill" concert at Town Hall on Saturday, December 17 at 8:00 PM and Sunday, December 18 at 3:00 PM. In NYCGMC's own words, the concert "will feature some of the coolest arrangements of holiday favorites, spine-tingling traditional choral pieces, many other fabulous performances, filled with the spirit of the season." American Symphony Orchestra will present Bernstein and the Bostonians, the second program in its four-concert Vanguard series at Carnegie Hall, on Today, November 18 at 8 PM.  Music Director Leon Botstein will lead the ASO in a performance that pays tribute to the Boston School, a group of composers who lived, studied, taught, and composed in and around the Boston area.

The Royal Conservatory of Music has announced its November 2016 concerts, including: TD Jazz: The Art of the Trio continues with Stefano Bollani Trio & Roberto Occhipinti Trio; Quiet Please, There's a Lady on Stage features Noa and Aviva Chernick; Chucho Valdes and Joe Lovano return to Koerner Hall; Generation Next introduces the rising stars of tomorrow; and debuts by Deborah Voigt and Viktoria Mullova with Accademia Bizantina. MasterVoices raised over $200,000 at its 2016 Fall Galain support of its artistic and outreach programs on October 20. The event featured the New York premiere performance of Ricky Ian Gordon and Royce Vavrek's opera 27 starring Metropolitan Opera mezzo Stephanie Blythe as Stein, Heidi Stober, Theo Lebow, Tobias Greenhalgh, and Daniel Brevik directed by James Robinson and conducted by MasterVoices' Artistic Director Ted Sperling with 150 singers of MasterVoices and Orchestra of St. Luke's. The evening featured Scenic Design by Allen Moyer, Costumes by James Schuette and Lighting by James. F. Ingalls.

The Richard Tucker Music Foundation's annual gala, one of the opera world's most star-studded evenings, returns home to New York's Carnegie Hall after an absence of more than a quarter of a century this Sunday, October 30, and for the first time, audiences both in the U.S. and abroad will have the opportunity to watch it live (6pm ET/3pm PT). Thanks to a new partnership with medici.tv, the gala concert will be webcast live free of charge both on medici.tv and on medici.tv's Facebook page, and made available for on-demand viewing for 90 days. In addition, the Richard Tucker Music Foundation continues its collaboration with WQXR 105.9 FM, New York's classical radio station, which will broadcast the performance to listeners in the New York metropolitan region and beyond on November 18 at 9pm ET/6pm PT. San Francisco Opera Center Director Sheri Greenawald today announced the thirteen recipients of the 2017 Adler Fellowship. Nine singers, three pianist/apprentice coaches and one director will take part in the program-a multi-year performance-oriented residency offering advanced young artists intensive individual training, coaching and professional seminars, as well as a wide range of performance opportunities. Adler Fellows are selected from the young artists who have participated in the Merola Opera Program. The prestigious fellowship has nurtured the development of more than 175 young artists since its inception.
